Conserving sharks and the oceans through research, education and outreach. Ecosystem-based Shark Research • Internship Program • Free Lab Tours 10am & 2pm
Working together with government, industry and the non-profit sectors SASC hopes to develop a responsible co-management approach to the exploitation of elasmobranchs and other living marine resources.
Our research facility, based in Hermanus, South Africa, is dedicated to conducting research on the biology and life-history of sharks, marine ecology & fishery interactions.
Using sharks as an icon, SASC promotes the conservation and sustainable use of marine resources through research, education and outreach.
"We are a non-profit organisation focussed on marine research. At the Sharklab we offer tours to the public at 10am and 2pm on most week days where visitors will get to see a presentation and our live sharks for a small fee."
