Watched Avatar in 3D, excellent day our with family. Popcorn and snacks 6 times the normal priceThe snacks and drink were more than the film itself. Would definitely not go out of my way to use the facility. Staff not very friendly at this Kinekor.
The Self assist machine at the door made it convenient, ordered everything from there, and just collected the food. Their times of movies work around loadshedding, so there are no interruptions during the movie.
Went and watched Avatar 2, We just had to get the cinamatic experience for the long wait on the Avatar sequel we had friendly staff that assisted us when we arrived at the theater, however loadshedding does mess around with the viewing schedule, so it is best to call and confirm the viewing times on the specific movie you want to watch before driving out there for nothing and I must say I was kind of shocked/disappointed with the prices, 2 adults and 2 kids costed a whipping R680, 2 regular pop corn, 2 cokes and 2 packets of sweets of your choice is R210 of which we took 2 of These combos @R420 and the 4 tickets totalled R260, but overall experience was good,
I'd leave zero stars if I could. This is the worst cinema I've ever been too. Tonight was an absolutely horrible experience. Would not recommend.
Was very quiet, however clean and friendly. Perhaps the movies have just become too expensive?
Terrible experience. I only give 1 star because 0 stars is not an option! We went last night to watch the new Avatar. Got there at 6:50pm, the movie stars at 7:30pm so plenty time to get tickets and popcorn..... The theater was closed as they were waiting for load shedding to start up their generators. There were at least 150 people there, and no staff assisting with the ques. Many people were confused and didn't know what que to stand in. People were bumping into each other. There was no social distancing at all!! They only opened the theater at 7:25pm, and we only got into the movie at 8:05pm. When the staff where asked by myself and many other unhappy people why the movie wasn't postponed as no one could get in on time the answer was that the IT guy knocks off at 7pm so it is out of there control and there's nothing anyone can do about it..... They knew there would be load shedding, and it's December and raining in KZN..... Obviously, you're going to be busier than usual! Why could they not plan ahead? Awful experience at Ster Kinekor, I do not recommend wasting your money here!
Needs a good makeover! The seats are ageing and not as comfortable as other cinema seats. There was a problem with the speakers when I last visited, a constant static sound and they didn't bother fixing it. Ster Kinekor really needs to redo their Shelly Beach branch.
How is that a business/company as huge as Ster-Kinekor does not have a generator at this branch/mall ?? Are you people really comfortable losing so much of money!! The staff explained the situation of loading shedding & movies had to be canceled. Friendly staff. They advised against pre-booking for the next day.
Worst Experience i ever had in the 15 years of supporting Shelly Center movie theater. Ster Kinekor Shelly Center will never ever see me again. Booked my tickets 5 days before the movie. To avoid previous disappointments, i made sure that we were there 30min early. We were there first. We waited infront of the big main doors because movies was closed due to loadshedding. As the doors open, it was a nightmare! Pushing, shoving and absolute no control, because of this we were in the middle of the new lineup to get our 3D glasses. Then the line pressing began. People holding space for their friends and family. To avoid fighting and arguments i looked past it and let it go. After 1hour of standing in the line , the line pressing got so bad that I asked for management to help and assist again to avoida huge fight, i asked help from the management because the movie has already started. By the time the manager assisted us, i politely asked her for a refund, as the movie began 40min ago. Unfortunately the manager said no to refunds. The Only option was to take the loss and leave loose all my money or to watch a movie that started 40min ago, WITHOUT 3D glasses. If you are interested in bad service , line pressing and disappointments, Shelly Center Ster Kinekor is the place to be!
If you are looking for the worst cinema experience just come to this place, we literally had to watch half of the movie with the cinema lights on, the staff is completely unhelpful & mostly rude.
