The Lodge is magnificent, built above a 30 metre waterfall in the Sanddrif River gorge, with stunning views of the river mouth, Indian Ocean and Tsitsikamma Mountains. Each of the seven rooms has a unique and stylish interior, with spacious bathrooms.

THE CHALETS:
The quaint B & B and Self-Catering chalets are very secluded and each of them has a private deck overlooking the Sanddrif River Gorge and Forest Plantations. Order a 3-course dinner braai from the Fernery, or enjoy a lavish meal from our a' la carte menu at the Lodge Restaurant, with warm ambience and magnificent virews.

I had a wonderful experience staying at the fernery lodge. The manager and staff was extremely sweet and polite, even gifting us with champagne and chocolates for our honeymoon. They even offered an upgrade but our existing room was beautiful and comfortable enough. The views of the forest were breathtaking and added to the overall experience. The breakfast provided was delicious and healthy, which was a nice surprise. The check-in and checkout process was very easy and hassle-free. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
My husband and I enjoyed our honeymoon in October 2022 in the Galjoen chalet and it was just such a magical experience. The service and kindness really made us feel so special. I cannot wait to visit again.Rooms: 5/5
This is an absolutely stunning hotel and location. If you care about location, scenery, and relaxing with nature, this lodge is for you. If you care about looking like you booked a high rollers place with your Versace and Gucci etc. then you're better off staying in a city. Honestly, we'd come back to South Africa and plan our trip around this hotel. Absolutely magnificent getaway, cannot recommend it enough. We did get lost driving here but the scenery is totally worth it and it was our fault for taking a wrong turn and following Google maps when we should have just followed the instructions from the hotel. Anyway you won't be disappointed here! All the complaints from the other people must be from people who can't appreciate nuture, tranquility, and a bit of solitude.
The Fernery is an absolute must visit when you are doing the N2 Garden route!! Although it is a bit of a drive on a gravel road, it is totally worth it! We did not stay over, it is quite a bit over our budget , but we had a drink at the restaurant, which overlooks the gorge, with a few waterfalls so the sounds of mighty rushing waters is overpowering then you are outside, and looking over the sea on the other side. In the restaurant they have various seating arrangements: the typical restaurant seating table with chairs, outside on the deck tables and couches, garden bar area, wine cellar, cosy lounge with a fireplace and television a local rugby game was on while we were there. There are also various boardsgames and books to page through. There are various activities: bicycles to rent, a giant chess board, a crochet field, swimming pool, hot tubs when you an overnight guest, farm dam with a bird hide and some trails in the gardens and forest: Purple route 1,2 km Orange route 1,4 km Yellow route 7 km need to be booked in advance if you are not a guest. There are also options for: Garden tours: An informative guided walk and Farm walks: Self-guided strolls. They also have a space on site. The staff is super friendly, welcoming and personable - they make you feel at home and you just want to come back to see their smiles again. Nearby activities: There are various activities on the property: bicycles to rent, a giant chess board, a crochet field, swimming pool, hot tubs when you an overnight guest, farm dam with a bird hide and some trails in the gardens and forest: Purple route 1,2 km Orange route 1,4 km Yellow route 7 km need to be booked in advance if you are not a guest. There are also options for: Garden tours: An informative guided walk and Farm walks: Self-guided strolls. They also have a space on site. In the wider area there are canopy tree top tours, the Stormsrivermouth with suspension bridges, the highest bungy jump in the world at Bloukrans and various hikes along the coast and in the forest. Safety: I would conclude, due to the secludedness, that is feels extremely safe. Walkability: Except for the various hikes mentioned above, it's beautiful to stroll around the property. Food & drinks: There is a restaurant with a stunning view serving food and drinks - menu included in the photos.
The views are simply stunning. You cannot find any fault with the room. They can arrange a braai pack for you at your room. There's a jacuzzi almost on the cliff with stunning views of the mountain, the waterfall and ocean in a distance. I think the only critique is the 4km road to get to the lodge but you have the spectacular forest to enjoy as you drive
The Fernery is an absolute gem with the best view of any hotel I've ever stayed at. Situated at the edge of a gorge we couldn't take our eyes off the cliff edge and ocean. We only spent one night so couldn't make the most of the hot tubs and nature walks but you could easily stay longer. When you turn off the N2 make sure you follow the signs and not google maps as you will end up going through a cow farm to get to the Lodge.
The Fernery, located in Tsitsikamma National Park, is an exceptional property that offers unparalleled views of the ocean and the surrounding gorge. The natural beauty of the area is simply breathtaking and unlike anything we've ever seen before. Our two-night stay at The Fernery was an unforgettable experience. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that we felt welcome and comfortable throughout our stay. As a special touch for our honeymoon, they even upgraded us to an ocean-facing room which made our stay even more memorable. The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. The view from the room was simply spectacular, and we could spend hours simply gazing out at the ocean and the surrounding landscape. The peace and tranquility of the surroundings made it the perfect place to relax and unwind. The bar at The Fernery was beautifully designed, and the fireplace provided the perfect setting for a cozy evening. The ambiance of the bar was warm and inviting, and we loved spending time there. One of the things we loved most about The Fernery was the sense of seclusion and privacy. Despite being located in the national park, it felt like a world away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The natural beauty of the surroundings provided a peaceful and rejuvenating atmosphere that we will never forget. Overall, The Fernery is an exceptional property that we would highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable stay in Tsitsikamma National Park. The breathtaking views, spacious and well-appointed rooms, attentive staff, and peaceful atmosphere make for a truly unforgettable experience. We can't wait to return and experience it all again.
The Fernery, is such a beautifully located lodge and Chalets in the heart of the beautiful Tsitsikamma region. things to do include hot tub, swimming pool, hike trials or just relax in the club house and play a game of pool. Something for everyone here and a high light for me is just simply relaxing by our Chalet and making a fire for a braai, wonderful! Service is good, food is fresh and cocktails are well made. Such a lovely place to put your feet up and relax.
Love this place. It's beautifully remote which means peace and quiet. The sound of the water is so satisfying. The view will blow you away. It can get quite cold in the winter but the establishment does make provisions for that.
