We had occasion to enjoy a mornings drive to the country. Our son who lived in Hillcrest introduced us to this Delightful place for lunch on Monday 22/1/2018. We were enchanted by surroundings and had the most delicious beautifully prepared cuisine enjoyed immensely. Would love to return. Thank you.
Went to the Olive Garden for lunch with friends today. Not a big table, only 4 of us. We ordered at 1:15pm and were told 25 minutes later that they were out of stock of two items so we had to change our order. Waited another hour and still no food. Eventually the waitress said we should just pay for our very expensive drinks and leave as she didn't know when our food would be ready. Overall terrible service and a pretty useless restaurant. Manager wouldn't even come to our table or step out of the kitchen to apologise.
Fantastic local secret hide-away loved by us locals. Family run business, best staff in the province. Very knowledgable about Italian food and the breakfasts are out of this world. My family and I have been supporters for 6 years and will not bother to venture any other place. All staff are south african which counts for a lot as they understand when you speak to them unlike similiar places in the area that hire foreign nationals who lets face it will work for pittance and then you get the service that comes with that...... You have to try their French Connection breakfast, a rosti with parma ham, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms and parma cheese, to die for doll! They are also licensed which makes for lovely afternoons on the deck enjoying the long standing Dieters Nursery and whiling away the hours with friends or family. Go anywhere else and stand in lines and then deal with below par service, cheap quality at cheaper prices and non existent owners on the premises. Also this restaurant is for those that like a tranquil atmosphere no kids crying or screaming.
This restaurant is nicely tucked away in a niche and is thus never too busy. It serves 4 star food, the service is reasonable, but unfortunately the price is way off the mark. In my opinion it is overpriced and this will put me off from returning, especially when there are plenty of other options in Hillcrest.
What a great experience. A very busy Saturday morning rush of customers and our order was handled with care, great humour by the head waitress whilst we were sat in calm gorgeous Hollywood Hills styled evirnoment. Bohemiam with a touch of rustic class. Food served was gorgeous and fresh, we had the French Connection no not laced with heroin on a crispy potato rosti, poached eggs, pancetta and baby spinach; a cheesy melt on rye with bacon and avo and a Farmers style breakfast with banana, mushroom, chips, various vegetables, a sublime meat patty which was hard to finish and lovely chunky homemade bread served with butter, jams and marmalade. Illly coffee, berry juice and a lemon meringue to head home with for tea. It really is a gem of a restaurant. Happy family of owners wandering around chatting to customers, we just felt it was all very personal which was a lovely change from what is offered nowadays in restaurants that start franchising where there is no one on one attention.
Great little restaurant tucked away in a Indigenous Plant Nursery with a balcony view of the Bonsai's that are for sale. Good food and cold beer. Good lunch menu. Parking secure.
Have been before and enjoyed it but the last time we went will be our last. It was close to their closing time and we were made to feel uncomfortable while just having a drink. We were basically told we had to leave before we were finished so they could lock up.
We went to The Olive Garden in BONA VIDA road Hillcrest for mothers day. This was without a doubt the worst service we have ever received. After inquiring at 10:58 am as to when we expect to receive our food as we had been there since 09:30 we were severely reprimanded by the owner who proceeded to raise his voice across the restaurant for all to witness. He then came to our table to argue on a further two separate occasions and to tell us that we are lucky that they are not busy. He single handedly ruined our mothers day and we will definitely not return for more abuse.
I love the olive garden. It is quite expensive but the food is always delicious. I enjoy the outdoor feeling of being in the nursery. Lovely for special occasions
Service everytime is pathetic. Manager also too proud to help out, will rather stand around doing nothing than clear tables covered with dishes. Too many well run cafes in the area to give this place another chance.
