My husband and I stayed here for one night. The small queen room has no privacy at all. There are inter-leading doors which we were never told about and due to this you can hear everything that happens next door and the neighbours can hear everything in your room. Literally every little conversation word for word and every little sound. Unfortunately for us, our neighbours kept banging on our door every time we spoke and it really put a damper on our stay. Otherwise, service is really good and the rooms are very clean.
Room was modern and well looked after. My only issue was that the towels in the bathroom were old, stained and even had holes in here and there. The staff at the front desk also weren’t very welcoming or friendly… No wifi password in the room either. Much room for improvement in the finer details. Overall not a bad place for the price I payed and it feels very safe.
It's a beautiful place to stay, apartments are exquisite, the bed and pillows very comfortable, clean and room service very efficient, I called in to request an iron and it didn't even take 10min the guy delivered. We got two bottled water. My only challenge was the sleeping it was quite difficult with the air-conditioner in the bedroom having a non stopping beeping sound, tried every button on the remote and nothing, that was quite irritating as we couldn't fall asleep the entire night. Also I don't think they have backup because at around 4am on Sunday electricity went away and was back just after 6am. Has a beautiful pool outside. Staff friendly from the security at the gate, while the others greet with a smile. We just lost on the sleep! Nearby activities: Menlyn mall Food & drinks: Menlyn Mall about 1km away
Ooh I loved my stay there! From the friendly Receptionist, Bareng, to the helpful Barman I forgot his name but he was cute . The breakfast was to die for! Comfortable bed, nice setup in the lounge and kitchen. Morden appliances. Even the complimentary bathroom essentials smelled like heaven. Thank you to the whole staff for making my stay relaxing and happy. Keep it up! Rooms: Beautiful!!! Big comfy bed. Cleanliness, decor, TV channels, EVERYTHING!
Extremely disappointed, especially for the amount paid. Unfriendliness at the front desk. Cupboards, room floors and corridors are dirty, blinds in the room are broken - and the best of all - the room number was written in ballpoint pen-handwriting on the door, no signage. Communication or the lack thereof was also terrible, no notice was given that the restaurant and public amenities were booked out for an event. Nothing was also mentioned about the fact that the room was inter-connected via another door, leading to the adjoining unit. I wouldn’t even expect this type of service from a Town Lodge, at half the price. The fact that I chose this hotel for a weekend getaway over a nearby Protea Hotel at the same price, is a HUGE regret of mine. Can guarantee you the service would’ve been 5x better. Regency Group, do better.
Rooms are great. I think it's pathetic that an establishment like this does not have backup power 20:00 in the evening when one still need to work whilst on a business trip. 05:00 in the morning you must prepare for work in the darj, because once again, no backup power during loadshedding. Will most definitely be my last time that I will stay in this hotel. If you are on a business trip and need a place with backup power during loadshedding, this IS NOT the place to stay.
Terrible experience!!! On arrival the person at the gate was rude, when we got to the room it smelled like sigarette smoke!! The bedding had marks on it and I think they tried to use a single bed sheet on a double bed. It is extremely noisy, when the neighbours came in 00:05 we could here every word they were saying from their room, at 4:00 the neighbours on the other side came in, they were so loud in the passage that we woke up again, and couldn’t sleep because it was so hot in the room because the building’s power was off, so the aircon was not working.
This place was bad our host was very very rude. Not helpful at all. The one bedroom bed was totally broken from the matress to the base the room door had a hole in it someone hit a hole in with a fist. The pots and pans were disgusting as well as coffee mugs wre broken. My husband 68 and I 62 had to sleep on the lounge floor on blankets because bed was broken. This place does not even get one star we booken in room 508. Very bad
This place is extremely noisy. Regular patrols around all the levels would really help regulate the noise and perhaps even assist guests and people that reside at the Regency to get some peace and quiet but that does not happen. You’ll be sorely disappointed. I have never been to an apartment hotel that does not have a generator. Their generator runs intermittently and ironically enough, the hours never seem to coincide with the loadshedding schedule so it’s as good as not having back-up power at all. Not having a working generator during a power crisis is really the biggest inconvenience one could ever encounter. I wouldn’t recommend this place for anyone. They seem to be cutting corners perhaps because of lack of funds but really it’s to their detriment. If you want a quiet place to unwind or perhaps do some work kindly seek accommodation that is worth your money. Perhaps look into booking at better places in surrounding areas. There is a total disregard for guests here.
The rates are the same as Hotel Sky in Sandton, but Hotel Sky is far much better than The Regency in all aspects. In my review, I am going to cover the following; 1. Building Maintenance 2. Room 3. Staff 4. Pool 5. Food Okay let’s start; 1. BUILDING MAINTENANCE The building clearly tells you it has not been renovated for the longest time. The building paint is peeling off, door handles are broken you can tell it has been long since they were attended to. I left a couple of dirt in strategic positions to see if the cleaners really do their job, I bet should I decide to go back there, I’d find those dirt where I left them, and lastly, the general maintenance of the building is poor. A big fat 2/10. 2. ROOM I booked the standard room, they call it a Small Queen Room. The bed was so uncomfortable, I woke up tied in the morning. This was the most saddest part of my stay. If you are thinking of watching Netflix or YouTube on their TV set, forget it. The type of TV they have doesn’t allow. 3. STAFF This was the first time in my entire experience of sleeping at hotel that it took me 45 minutes to literally check in. At some point I thought of cancelling the reservation and going somewhere else. . The waiters at the restaurant need training ASAP! I had one offering me a “step fry” Until I figured all he meant was a stir fry. 4. The POOL They should have figured it out already that the pool facility cannot really accommodate a large volume. We literally had to wait to use some facility around the pool. The pool wasn’t clear blue clean, . 5. FOOD I had never laughed at a buffet breakfast set up before until I saw the one at The Regency. It is like they are on a budget. I paid more or less the same price at The Capital but the breakfast there was the boom! CONCLUSION: Do not come here if you expect top service. It is just mediocre.
