BEWARE of the fine print. They require you to sign and accept conditions that are not in their standard terms and conditions when booking online or on display at their offices. Suddenly the excesses are double and there are many exclusions. It even makes the signee personally liable. I cancelled the booking but they had already taken the funds and could only refund me the next day.

Great service. Process is also user friendly. Deposit is very reasonable. Unlimited mileage is also available. We booked 2 vehicles for our road trip and they we in great condition.
I've been hiring vehicles at Dollar Thrifty for the past five years, no complain at all. The service is so good and the staff are so friendly.
Sales person tells me my money will be refunded in 3 days, within seconds after making payment I’m told it will take 14 working days. Kindly explain to me WHY my money needs to be kept for 14 working days when I only had the car for 24 hours and your inspection team has cleared the car as I arrive. Moreover I immediately requested that my money must be released before month end, which it was not and my debit orders bounced because you held back R6,000 of my money. I also waited 1 hour to be able to pick up my vehicle that was pre booked. I don’t have time to waste. Other rental agencies hold money for 3 days and take 5-10min to help when you arrive

I'm happy with the service. The bakkie was in good condition. Although cleaned while I was there, all was OK. Being the second time hiring with thrifty, my only issue is waiting for the car to get ready. If you have an urgent appointment from picking up the car you'll definitely be late, twice now I've had to wait for the car. Overall it would've been 5 stars, the only issue is the waiting period before you get the car.
Never rent from here. I booked and paid online for a cross border rental. When I arrived at the agreed time, it took the office four hours to process the rental! This delayed my trip significantly and I ended up getting to border after it closed. In addition, it is now more than 6 weeks since I rented the car and the credit card charge for deposit/incidentals has not yet been reversed. Now I have to take more of my own time to track them down for my deposit. Ridiculous. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. UPDATE: Thrifty responded to this review. They looked into the complaint and came with the same information they told me before - that they refunded my deposit to a card. Problem is that the card they refunded does not belong to me. I have told at least three people this via phone and email, and I still have not had a response.
Helpful staff that assist when you visit the branch. Had a charge query and the admin staff assisted - national email contact wasn't getting to the query. Vehicle and rental inspector Annette also has excellent customer service etiquette and attitude. Thanks team! Still the most competitive rental agency that doesn't charge an arm and a leg as holding deposit.
Pathetic to say the least. Rude staff. We paid online and in full but because my HUSBAND WHO LIVES WITH ME yes, Thrifty, married people usually reside at the same address used his credit card, I am not allowed to drive the car. The "SWIFT" pick up option took over an hour. And CINDY, the manageress, must remember that everyone in reception can hear her sarcastic remarks that she drops behind an open door. And scowling at your customers before even opening your mouth is uncalled for in a profession where customer service should be a priority. Cindy, do not waste my time by replying to explain any "misunderstanding" or "policies". Change your angry face and attitude and we can talk again.
