Beautiful, relaxed and quiet Karoo wilderness
Took a run through the nature reserve while in the Plathuis area and was blessed enough to see 6 Giraffes watching me run along. Will definitely go back to try some of the hiking routes.
Had a weekend stay over here, and being from the city but still loving the outdoors this place was absolutely FANTASTIC! It is so peaceful, and the houses that have been built blend in with the surrounding and are spread far apart to give you privacy. These houses are also completely off-grid. Electricity is provided by solar panels and hot water by gas, but don't expect cell reception or WiFi, this is an escape from all that. There are many hiking trails, 4x4 routes and mountain bike routes to choose from. And in the evening you can truly appreciate the stars as the skies open up in a way that is not at all like the city. There are also several wild animals about jackals, zebras, giraffes, bucks, ostriches, etc.
