Feel like picking your special star? Then this is where you need to be. Right in the heart of the Karoo, within the best painting created by the Master, Steenbokkie Nature Reserve. This picture pretty reserve covers 9000ha and consists of Karoo plains, hills and rivers. Game- and bird watching is just some of the things to keep you busy and help you relax in this little heaven on earth.
The game reserve includes springbuck, giraffe, blue wildebeest, gnu, oryx, kudu, Burchell's zebra, impala, fallow deer, mountain reedbuck, eland, blesbuck, red hartebeest and small game like steenbok, grey duiker, hares suricate, mongooses, bar-eared fox, cape fox and Aardwolf and Jackal occur from time to time.
Over 145 bird-species have been recorded. This is a little bird paradise on its own.
Comfortable accommodation is available in a caravan park, cottage, B&B rooms with en-suite facilities.

"Steenbokkie Private Nature Reserve is situated 7km from Beaufort West in the arid Karoo. The farmstead is a real oasis with air conditioned en-suite rooms and a communal kitchen or cottages with private braai areas and kitchens. Self-catering, service tray with coffee and tea in Rooms and Cottages, Dstv channels, electric blankets in winter and a refreshing swimming dam in summer. Interact with our diverse community of farm animals and enjoy some wild game visiting the lawns of the campsite in the early evenings.Shaded, grassed campsites, clean ablutions. We have an interesting shop selling from gifts, wood, Karoo braaipacks, rusk, biltong to plants. We do not have card facilities but you are welcome to do an eft."
