Very clean camping site, we booked private sites...Shower had warm water which is a plus, no network but you can charge your phone, long hike trails but worth it!!! Got to explore all three waterfalls. Baboons are all over so DO NOT leave food unattended, shout out to the guide who helped us with hiking trails.
Cape Nature camping ground with 20 campsites without power . Gas powered showers and solar lighting. Please note that you may not use any fire wood as precaution against Shot Hole Borer .
Beautiful park, rich in big leafy trees right next to the river, picnic benches and brick braai areas. Hiking routes, none over 3 hours, promises a variety of fynbos and waterfalls. The playpark was a definite hit with the younger children and the park staff had a small presentation the Saturday morning, including birdwatching, creative crafts and an Easter egg hunt. Upon arrival the bathrooms well appointed and functional was clean and a pleasure to use. As the long weekend drew to its end, the condition of the ablutions got progressively worse and by Monday, we didn't want to use it any more. We saw lots of small wildlife. The baboons can be very cheeky and was a bit of a menace. With the river so close by, we could swim and even make use of our small canoes.
I expected more from this site. We booked at the private campsite. There is no grass ons the sites. Some of them have decks to setup your tent on. They use gas geysers. Don't ever use them they are a horrible concept. They give you instructions how to use but it does not work so I had a ice cold shower. YOU MAY NOT BRING IN ANY FIREWOOD OF YOUR OWN!!! Be prepared for this, we did not know and had to purchase charcoal at reception at a price. The day visitors are loud and plays music the whole day. The staff very friendly but they woke us up before 7am with loud chatting and laughing. The site is literally next to the road so the cars are extremely noisy. I could have just stayed at home. Tweede Tol were very disappointing.
Booked a private camping site and it was great. Big plot, own braai and bathroom. Enjoyed the mountain pools and hike. Great place affordable place to getaway from the city. #nosignal There are baboons and they love taking food. They literally left everything else as is and only took our chips lol..once the sun is down, they are gone and you can enjoy your night under the stars.
Aside from the baboons in the morning the rest of the place is breathtaking, hiking trails are lovely when walking through the rivers, varies spots to swim in. As far as getting there, fairly easy. Just a very narrow road.
Fantastic, clean campsites for those who like to have an 'unplugged' weekend. No reception, no electricity, just you, the fire and good company. We encountered cape genet which was a real treat and fended off baboons which was exciting. The campsites are each equipped with a picnic table, tap and a braai place. There are loads of trails to hike, a play area for kids, picnic areas, rock pools and the ablution facilities conveniently located. Wonderful weekend away with beautiful views and waterfall hikes. Definitely returning.
We've been going here for over 34 years and still we cannot get tired of enjoying the beautiful refreshing mountain water staff as usual always pleasant and accommodating here and there u have the odd new comer campers who thinks the place belongs to them and yes being racist can bring out the ugly in them‍ otherwise Tweede tol always the best and cleanest camping place for all ages see u all soon Tweede tol reservist Playground: Pleasant clean & safe Restrooms: Always clean and well maintained Picnic area: Safe and secure but watch for leaving yr food items unattended as u have the local baboons who enjoy take the odd packets of food stuff and running off with them they almost harmless just remember we in their territory so be kind and vigilant
Lovely place, had some great upgrades. The staff extremely friendly and professional. The water was superb and love the few tunnels under water.
We visited Tweede Tol as day visitors today. The pools, trail and waterfalls were spectacular. The trail was well maintained and absolutely magnificent. However previous visitors/hikers left way more than just their footprints.... cigarette butts, litter, plastic bottles and food containers were strewn all over at especially the picnic site sadly also some at the waterfalls higher up in the trails. The bins provided were not serviced and all were full at the picnic site. This should a be managed properly by Cape Nature b people littering must NOT be tolerated c with the conservation fee charged per person entering as a day visitor, surely a person or 2 patrolling the area can be appointed to make sure this does not happen. This is after all a World Heritage Site and should be looked after accordingly. If people visiting the site don't adhere to the rules, they must be asked to leave.
