Rivierplaas Campsite

About

Rivierplaas Campsite is a private campsite on a wine farm, just an hour and a half's drive from Cape Town.

Description

Rivierplaas Campsite is a private campsite on a working farm, just an hour and a half's drive from Cape Town. We welcome, and are friendly towards grown-ups, kids, pets, and basically anybody who enjoys and respects nature. No regrets, no electricity or music.

"Rivierplaas Campsite is a pet-friendly campsite on a private, working farm. There is no electricity, and no parties or music allowed. This is ideal for families with old school camping: swimming in the river, zipline into the water, rafts on the water, canoes for all to use, open grass play areas for kids and a 2.5km hiking trail."

LOVELY, well-kept camp site! Spotless bathrooms! Cynthia that keeps the bathrooms clean helped me with the “donkey” so i could have a warm shower. She is really such a breath of fresh air! Absolutely pet & kid friendly! A lot of trees for shade. Lots of mosquitoes will definitely visit again!Rooms: 5/5
Beautiful camp site, enough shade, very clean. Loved it so much, we immediately booked another weekend. Owner is very friendly, runs a small shop with all necessities. We had a peaceful stay, and our dogs liked it just as much!
One of the much nicer camping spots.Beautiful location next to the river with shady trees and lawn. Good ablutions and washing up area Private ,peaceful and secure .Lovely hosts, will definitely be back.Service: 5/5
We camped at rivierplaas site C3. Great site big with shade and access to the river. Well maintained campsite. Ablutions are clean and hot water works well. Shop stores all the basics. Will Def return
I had an amazing time at Rivierplaas. Bugs are problematic so prepare well. Staff is super friendly and the place is well taken care of. Hot water is always available and the bathrooms are really well taken care of. Affordable rates, and the farm doggies sometimes pay you a visit. Definitely worth every cent.
Great camping for the family. Lots of fun. Dog friendly. Owners are friendly and accommodating
Camp sites, grass, river, shade all good. The owners do warn of mosquitoes etc. Thats fine and expected. Also one can guard yourself against that BUT, the incessant abundance and ceaseless bombardement from swaths of flies make it impossible to spend time in the day at this venue. We visited the beautiful surrounding wine farms and little towns for relief every day. No doubt a result of the livestock in a working farm…..but I would NOT recommend it in summer unless you are a chameleon. Then there is the privacy deprived shortage of ablutions! Only being made worse by making them unisex…..
Lovely place, great hosts and a fantastic experience. Will definitely be back to see the farm dogs hahaha.
Awesome camp site. Tried Klipkrans but the bike Nazis there refused me entry because I travel by Motorcycle. Rivierplaas ,no problem come on in! Yes there are bugs but if you want comfort book into a hotel. This is camping baby! Peaceful, friendly staff, awesome river access, fishing, canoes, a cable slide...etc
First time here - won’t be our last. What a gem. Lovely spacious campsites, some right next to the river on a working farm. Trees provide shade while allowing for enough sunlight. Ablutions are rustic but well kept, clean and functional. A wood fired donkey provides good hot water. That all said - the ablutions could get crowded when the sites are all full. But we were there out of season and it was just fine. There is a small shop open for 30min twice a day. It would be great if they sold a few more items. Long life milk comes to mind! Finally, be aware there is no electricity and for the price I would have hoped for that.
