Batis and Bass Campsite

Great way to end off another summer in the Cape. With 2 convenient camping spots at Batis, each plot can host a number of people, tents and cars. Electricity is provided along with 2 operational bathrooms. The owner is kind enough to trust goers with his 2 kayaks that we took up and down the river. Ideally situated quite far off the main road, you kinda feel like you're somewhere in the Karoo with the quite and tranquil surroundings. I'd definitely recommend this spot!

Experienced some of the worst wind we've experienced while camping, but the locals mentioned it is normal for December-January. The flies, however, were not seasonal but seem to be problematic this year. Having only 1 toilet and shower was a challenge for the number of people we had on the site. We enjoyed it overall. The floating platform in the water was not present when we were there, but the kids made good use of the kayak. Many wine farms and Monks Gin are all worth a visit.

If you are looking to do a bit of bass fishing this is a great place to do it. But be warned do not take campsite no.2. The main campsite has access points to fish but no.2 is about 10m from the waters edge so you cant easily fish from there. I was offered to stay at no.1 but gad to move camp when new guests arrived. Feel like i was a bit catfished from other photo posts.

Carefull.... 2 campsites, 1 great, 1 not. No shade, ankle breaker trip to bathroom/kitchen area

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Batis & Bass. Amazing camping experience on the river. Bathrooms were clean and well looked after. Looking forward to our next visit. Thanks Plum!

Lovely spot, great for.peace and quiet

Very nice camping spot. On a river with great mountain views. Ablutions could be a little more private but this didn't phase us much. Would love to see more sites in future

Beautiful safe and well maintained. Can recommend it and will visit again.

Excellent camping area for a larger group. Very friendly owners that will do a lot to make the guests comfortable. We'll be back soon as we get a booking. Next to the beautiful Breeds river.
