Description

Fish Eagle River Lodge was named after the two breeding pairs of African Fish Eagles nesting on the banks of the Berg river, which forms one of the boundaries of this working olive and vine farm.
The Upmarket accommodation is set in beautifully landscape gardens with the imposing Elandskloof mountain range as a backdrop to the tranquil setting.
Only 45 minutes from Cape Town, the farm is situated in the heart of the Riebeek Valley, just outside the quaint village of Hermon and about 5 minutes from the restaurants and shops of Riebeek Kasteel.
The historic towns of Tulbagh and Wellington are both about 20 km's away and the scenic winelands of Paarl, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch are easily accessible from here.

Fish Eagle River Lodge: Small campsite in Hermon. Beautiful green camping area. Well maintained but not much shade. Pool in excellent condition. Ablutions are clean and well kept. No children under 18. No pets. No music. No noise. Perfect for a weekend getaway for those who like a quiet space. Nearby activities: Close to Riebeek Valley wine route.
Lovely setting, clean accommodation and super friendly staff. I highly recommend Fish Eagle River Lodge.
Excellent spot to camp with green lawns, electrical points, portable braai and amazing views. The shower facilities could use a bit of attention though and management can definitely enforce the noise policy better. We had to deal with "campers" three sites away playing their DSTV on the flatscreen TV so loud, we could hear every single word of alien conspiracies...and thereafter a music channel till after 10pm. Those campers had zero consideration for the rest of us...
Lee and Francois are terrific hosts, and made our stay incredibly relaxing and peaceful. The views from the rooms and breakfast porch are breathtaking, as one overlooks the pond and our onto the lagoon. Can’t wait to come back!Rooms: 5/5
my second home, we have been there I think close on 20 times maybe more in the last 2 years which is a lot considering no camping during lock down. Steve and Kay are awesome friendly hosts. Campers have a small swimming pool with shade covering so are able to lounge around all day in the shade in the pool. The pool area is an amazing space to meet awesome new friends. When ever I fish there I always catch, carp or cat fish. Honesty bar with wood and ice available 24hours. can happily recommend this place for camping or staying in the lodge. We are hoping to have our wedding there with shorts and slops, a spit braai and a pool.. Thank you to Steve and Kay.... see you later
A really lovely peaceful campsite. While I love children it really is pleasant to be able to enjoy the tranquility of the camping experience without excited children running about. The ablution block was always clean and the decent size of the shower cubilcles was most pleasing. It is lovely to be able to camp on grass fields rather than bare earth. While it is a small camp site, the actual individual sites are big enough not to have anyone right on top you. A swimming pool is a real bonus if the weather is hot. Steve and Kay are lovely hosts and nothing was too much trouble. A definite place to return to.
Disgusting attitude from Kay, very disappointed. My mother tried to organize accommodation for a group of us before my wedding, Kay was unhelpful and had the absolute audacity to tell my mother "I really don't think our venue is suitable for your requirements . I think we are a little too expensive for you.." absolutely nowhere did we mention the costs or budget my mom was trying to organize the logistics of how many people were staying over and what would work with the venue's minimum stay requirements. It is also funny that the B&B rates, do not include breakfast, so apparently enquiring why this is the case means that it is "Too expensive" for us. shocking behavior. What could have been accommodation for 6 people, will being going elsewhere instead.
Had a great stay, staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. The grounds are stunning and we'll kept. Very peaceful.Rooms: 4/5
The camping site was great. The owners are very nice. For us it was just to warm during our stay. Will visit it again.
Good, clean, friendly and fully equipped self catering unit on the banks of the Berg River. Fish Eagle River Lodge is a hidden gem BUT you need to turn off the R44. Get off the highways onto the back roads and be amazed.Rooms: 4/5
