Poor communication, shady and/or poor business practices.
TL;DR - We reserved the entire house for a weekend, sent a deposit off, and only after many attempts to get in touch with the owner over the course of months, we're told that she had "forgotten about our reservation, the check for the deposit never arrived, and a racing team has booked the house for the weekend and it's no longer available. Sorry."
Each year in July my wife and I attend the IMSA race weekend at Lime Rock Park and we decided we'd like to book the whole house for the weekend due to the convenient location. My wife emailed and called in December 2016 to book the house for July 2017. The owner was surprised that we were calling so early but said we were the first to ask about it and she took our names and information down and reserved the entire house for us on the dates we wanted. She said she would call with an amount and address to send the deposit. After us calling and emailing few times and waiting for a response for two months we finally got the address to send the deposit. We wrote a check for a $300 deposit and sent it off and then once again heard nothing for close to two months and noticed the check had yet to be cashed. My wife tried calling again and after a couple of failed attempts finally managed to get in touch with the owner in April 2017.
The owner then proceeded to tell my wife that she had "forgotten" about our reservation, despite taking down our information and telling us to send her a check, and claimed that she never received the deposit. She then stated that one of the race teams running at the Park that weekend had now booked the house and it was no longer available for us. So at this point we were out of luck and after doing some searches, the nearest hotels that had any rooms were in Massachusetts and New York and wanted over $400 dollars a night. So we disappointingly had to make the decision to skip the race weekend this year. We got to see the on TV, at least.
While I can't prove it, my instincts tell me that the race team called after we did and were told the house wasn't available and they offered more money than what the going rate for the weekend was and in turn our reservation was "forgotten" and our check "lost in the mail".

Was a great location for the wedding I attended and the backyard was fun for our children to run around in. The house inside is very busy and crowded with all manner of things. The host was very hospitable though and left lots of notes and checked in with us too make sure we were okay

Warm....Inviting...Relaxing....like our own Vacation Home. Open Kitchen 24/7 was GREAT as we arrived after midnight, and were welcomed by a glass of wine and a fresh bowl of soup! We were able to use the kitchen anytime....and even the Hot Tub was always available. The 2 Cats were the finishing touch to this very much "At Home" feeling. The rates are almost HALF of what other B&B's charge in the area!
A real "FIND" that we will return to!

We stayed here for a wedding last year. This place was SOOOO much fun! The house is very cozy and has lots of neat things to look at. Located near a few fun little towns but out in the country enough to be able to just sit out back and stare at the stars. Fantastic.
