Aixois

We had lunch on the patio. The food & ambiance were wonderful & our waiter did a great job. My friend chose the location. I'd never eaten here before and I thought she made a great choice. Definitely going back.

I like to grab a cup of coffee here on Sundays before church because it's close and the coffee is very good. In fact, its almost expertly made. The staff...not quite on the same level. I go almost every week and I've seen many of them before, and I can almost count on them not to acknowledge me with eye contact, a "hello" or even "excuse me." Now, if they are serving me directly, It's a given. I'm sure everyone wants a tip. But if they are passing by me between the narrow front area, I might as well be invisible. Management may want to work on the friendliness of staff. First impressions (or repeat impressions) are lasting.

Aixois is one of my favorite restaurants in Kansas city. The food is top notch, the wine selection is good and approachable, and thr ambiance is wonderful. My wife and I probably go at least once a month. Brunch on Sunday is great too if you're looking for a healthier option.

My only complaint is that when we arrived the woman said that they were completely booked. There were about ten EMPTY tables available. We sat at the bar, and we were there for a few hours. During that entire time, no one ever sat at any of those open tables.

I loved this place more when they served breakfast, but sadly they have narrowed their offerings to coffee and pastries, and their website is not updated to reflect such. The staff is ok, but the thing that has me coming back is the patio. I'd give it 5 stars if the breakfast menu returned during the week (I miss the bagel and lox!)
