Animal Emergency Hospital of North Texas

Terrible place!!! We just took our rabbit there a couple hours ago. Our pet ferret got a hold of the rabbit's foot and was pulling on it through the cage. There was no blood, but the rabbit was laying so still that we thought she may have a heart attack. We raced her to this hospital because it was the only place open that would see rabbits. BAD IDEA! They took her to the back, away from us. When Dr. Meghan Mahanay entered the room, she told us our rabbit was severely sick and would need to be hospitalized. It would be $1000. I told her we didn't have that kind of money and my main concern was a heart attack. It was at that point that she suggested we could "stop this now" by putting her down!!! My 11 year old (the owner of the rabbit) and 16 year old were sitting right there. This made them extremely upset as you can imagine. So I told her we wanted to take the rabbit home and nurture her there where she felt safe. It's been about two hours now. Our rabbit is hopping all over her cage. Eating and drinking JUST FINE!!!!!! We could have euthanized a perfectly healthy animal if we had listened to this lady. This place should not be allowed to take in ANY ANIMALS!!! Please beware!!!! Scares me to think how many people actually believe them and let them kill their animals.

We made the mistake of taking our dog to the Animal Emergency Hospital of North Texas, and I'm not sure I've ever encountered a more predatory establishment. After making it clear we could not surpass our insurance budget of $3000, I received a phone call at around four in the morning telling me that my balance was over $3500 and I would need to pay all outstanding charges before picking up my dog. If you can't pay, the charges just keep going up. Outside of the fact that they used our emergency as a convenient method of holding our dog hostage, our insurance was charged twice for the 3000 and despite my numerous call and messages over the previous months, I have yet to hear from the office manager. I have, however, received an abundance of calls about the money I never should have been charged for to begin with. If you are taking the time to read this, do yourself a favor and take your fur baby somewhere else where the staff believes the animals are more important than the dollars that come with them. P.S. They love to suggest euthanasia. If they feel like you can't pay, or aren't willing to drop the kind of money they're asking, the first thing they'll start telling you is how they can get you a deal on euthanasia. Disgusting.

First of all, this place is expensive, but it's an emergency hospital so that's expected. I would not make this place out to be a regular vet or expect vet prices. IT IS AN EMERGENCY HOSPITAL, IT WILL BE EXPENSIVE. Despite the cost, I still feel that the care we got and the care they took of our pet was worth the price. Our male cat had a history of being blocked and I spoke with a vet tech over the phone. She listened to my concerns and made me feel confident in my decision to bring him in. I did and he was completely blocked. The Doctor explained everything very well, and we are confident that they took care of our cat better than anyone else could. The procedures they recommended were the exact same as our regular vet had described. He's had the surgery and now Tom Tom is in recovery mode.

I took my sweet baby ferret in there who was having seizures, they gave him Valium and told me that he wouldn’t make it through the night. They suggested I put him to sleep. I told them I would take him home and take my chances. I paid my 700 bill and left with a very sick ferret. I nursed him all night and now 2.5 years later he is still here and happy and healthy as ever. We will never go back!

If they gave me free visit I would not go here. I took my dog to the ER because of abdominal distension, and the doc did an abdominal sonogram. This idiot of a doc said my dog had cancerous lesions all over his liver, and that I needed to euthanize him. I went and had a second opinion. Dog did have a mass, but absolutely nothing on his liver. He is still ALIVE almost 2 years later. This doctor has no business in the ER if he is going to be misdiagnosing. I agree with previous post DON'T GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT A DEATH sentence for your animal.
