Anna Custom Taylor Shop

I have been going to Anna for years and have always been happy with her work and pricing. It's good and very fair. She is nice as well. I am sorry that anyone did not have as good of an experience as I have for many years but not all people are meant to work together. I love Anna's and will always use her.

I was debating writing this review because so many others had nothing but good things to say, however my experience with Anna was horrifying and I felt compelled to share in case anyone were to experience something similar. I would not take anything more complicated than simple alterations to her... I took an Indian dress to have altered for a wedding to Anna. I am sure that she would have done a great job if it were something less complicated and she is clearly knowledgeable and has a good customer base that really likes her, I personally just had a truly horrible and unbelievable experience with her that left me leaving her store in tears. I legitimately could not fathom how awful my interaction was with her. She had some suggestions as to how she was going to alter my dress but I had a very different idea in mind as to what I wanted and she was extremely unaccommodating. Even one of the other customers in the store earlier on stated that she understood what I was trying to say, but perhaps there was a barrier that ultimately resulted in miscommunication and this level of frustration on her end. I think there were some communication issues because as she was pinning my dress and as I made more suggestions contradicting what she had in mind, she became increasingly frustrated to the point where she snapped and started yelling, grabbing my arm out of anger/frustration and screamed at me as to how annoying I was (she had also already cut off a sleeve in anticipation of altering my dress by this point). After that interaction I told her I would take my business elsewhere to which she shouted "good." I left with my dress half ruined because she refused to take my request. I came out of the fitting room on the verge of tears and told her that this was no way to treat a customer, and she said "I've been doing this for fifty years and I've never had a customer like you, you want this and you want that and you are not listening to me. You are so annoying." She had her voice raised the entire time. She expressed no remorse as to how she reacted, which is what I found particularly hurtful and frustrating when I left her store. Maybe she was having a bad day, maybe I was really irritating her. Either way, she should not have reacted the way she did and she did not demonstrate any ability to have patience and work kindly with me. If I had yelled at the people I work with the way she yelled at me, I certainly would have been fired by that point. That being said, everyone has a bad day and I might have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time. I wont ever forget it though and would never recommend her to another customer. The following week I took the same dress to a different tailor who listened to every suggestion and was so pleasant and accommodating. She never once expressed frustration or behaved unprofessionally the way Anna did. I think Anna has a terrible attitude and I hope that anyone that has had a bad experience with her can be consoled that they are not the only ones in spite of the great reviews out there.

Ms. Anna has been our custom tailor for so many years that I cannot remember going to anyone else! She has such skill and talent, absolutely amazing. She has taken dresses for my wife and daughter and magically transformed them into pieces of art. When you try on clothing, you can see her eyes as they deliberate and create. Then she just starts marking it up and then asks you when you want it. There are never redo's on Anna's watch. If you could not guess, she gets all 5's from our entire family!

I was looking for a tailor online in Ellicott City and found that Anna's customers are very happy with her work and many have returned for years. The bad review I just read does not match the service that I received as a new customer. I brought her a dress for my vow renewal. The alterations required that she remake the dress and it was done to perfection. She was friendly, helpful and her charge for the work was extremely reasonable. I am going in today with four Size 12 dresses that now need to be a Size10. I have full confidence in her. I am sorry that the earlier reviewer did not have a good experience.
