Had my spinal surgery done here, and woke up in in *less* pain than when I went in despite having just been cut open. Absolutely marvelous staff, so nice, great food for overnight amazing right?, and the surgery was the best decision of my life. They gave me great preparation support and always followed up so quickly. Highly recommend going here if you have the choice.
I had a great experience today for my same day surgery, from my intake nurse, Catherine, my surgical nurses, Nick and Nikki, anesthesiologists, Darrell and Katie, my surgeon, Dr. Leibowitz and my recovery nurse, Asher. Thank you so for such good care!
Nobody likes to go to the hospital, but if you do, it's nice to be treated with respect. Unfortunately, in the last few years, I have been to each of the major ERs near Lafayette - Good Samaritan, the BCH on South Boulder Rd., and Foothills Hospital in Boulder. Only Avista has been consistently good. I have never waited even an hour to be seen. At SCL Good Samaritan, when I could barely stand up with a migraine, they wouldn't even put me in a room without light or give me a comfortable chair. At Avista, they got me right into a comfortable location and didn't ask redudant or silly questions that would prolong my suffering. The providers are helpful. The last visit, I had to call back the next day to get a modification to the prescription because of an allergy to an inactive ingredient. The doctor got on the phone with me right away and got the prescription changed. My symptoms have been somewhat vague and mysterious as I grapple with a new chronic illness of MCAS, migraines, hypermobility, and worsening asthma. It's hard enough dealing with difficult-to-pin-down health problems without people looking at you like you are crazy. At Avista, they have treated me like a human being, with kindness, compassion, and respect.
My husband came to ER in the middle of the night with a medication reaction from surgery. He was sick from the narcotic pills prescribed to him. We were told he’d be sent home with something non-narcotic to take instead. Looked through his aftercare paperwork and he got nothing. Called hospital later that day and they said the doctor wasn’t on anymore and another doctor couldn’t give out a prescription. I pleaded with nurse Mary to help but she was unhelpful and didn’t provide any solution for us. They don’t care once you’re out the door and have your money. What a disappointing experience. Was left with only narcotic pills to help my husband when he wanted non-narcotic. We will be disputing the bill.
This is the best, most compassionate and caring hospital, staffed with experts in every field. Absolutely everyone who worked with our family went above and beyond being helpful and responsive to everything we needed.
All the ladies on the 2nd floor are absolutely wonderful . Top of the line Nurses that couldn't have done a more outstanding job . Thank you for all you did for my wife .
A specimen from pathology was delayed two full weeks after it was requested. Frustrating to now have to wait even longer for test results.
They were great and very professional. There was one nurse at the very beginning that was they being very insensitive to my needs and my feelings. They did get a different nurse to care for me and she was amazing. This was my second surgery there. I would very much recommend Avista Surgery Center and Boulder Plastic Surgery. They are amazing!!!
My fiance had emergency surgery and she was in operation within a few hours of us getting to the hospital. The nurses and doctors were extremely patient and explained everything they were doing what was happening even though they seemed very busy. They still took the time to make sure we understood our options and what the procedure entailed. Dr. Inglis performed the surgery and called my fiance personally to see how her recovery was going a few days after she was discharged. Overall we had such a positive experience at Avista Adventist!
Best care anyone can receive, from scheduling the office appointment, to pre- op vist with Summer, pre-surgery testing with Diane at the surgery center, to day of surgery. Megan was wonderful at my check in, Anne, my nurse was excellent, she explained everything I needed to know, and put me at ease right away. Also, she made sure my husband was kept up to date on my care and very thorough with post-op instructions for going home. The OR team was AMAZING, Lynne my nurse explained what to expect, Karen, my other nurse in the room was wonderful, helping get my settled in, Cindy, was te scrub nurse, she explained she would be helping Dr. Hartley during my surgery. Dr. Ransom, my anesthesiologist, was the best, he listened to my wishes and concerns, I barely had a scratchy throat when I woke up. One of the nicest touches, I had Anne as my nurse in recovery, she know everything I needed. I can't leave out Dr.Hartley, he is the best surgeon I've ever had, my nose is perfect. I give Avista Surgery Center A++++ Best care around!
