Those tiny rooms are so congested. No place for both parents to be with their kids when they are sick. Didn't get a chance to take a nap and had to be alert to mosquitoes flying inside the room. Had to wait more than 4 hours for the X-ray result.
This hospital needs a lot of improvement. The poor hospitality and the inexperienced doctors and nurses are the major problem. This is the second time we bring out daughter here and they couldn’t figure out what’s going on with her. The lack of communication is one of the problems I had experienced in here, they don’t tell me what’s going on unless I start asking questions and I had to list all the things I believe that our daughter might be sick with to ask the staff about it. They do/did all kinds of tests and still unable to tell us how, why, and what is happening to her. One of the silly things that annoyed us is the posey bed. The remote that controls the bed’s different positions didn’t work. They called the maintenance department and a guy came in to look at it. After checking it for a few minutes he said it is broken and cannot be fixed. After he left, I looked at it and I found that the remote cable doesn’t connect firmly into the port under the bed; and when I fixed it the bed started working again without any issues. “Please find & hire a better maintenance crew.” Also, how come you stay 4 nights with your kid and they don’t serve you meals. I had to leave my daughter sometimes and go outside to buy some food or wait until my wife brings me some and she cannot enter the hospital with our kids because of the pandemic rules. So many things should be fixed in this hospital before we come back to here again!!
The ER rooms could use a little touch of comfort, but the staff throughout the building is so wonderful. From the security, to the hospitality, nurses and doctors. The room they put us in 542 was so cozy and everything was perfectly laid out including pillows sheets and blankets for me. I can't say enough about the staff. My son had to miss his birthday party because he was in the hospital and they threw a party for him. Also my son wants to give a huge shout out to Jeanette who removed all of the probes from the EEG from his hair. She has amazing energy and such warmth.
My son has had 3 heart surgeries here and there all good to us. There’s been a few wolfs in sheep’s clothing nothing a charge nurse can’t fix and honestly the best place for children in my opinion. Definitely recommended
The NCH NICU has some amazing doctors and nurses, as well as speech, occupation, physical and respiratory therapists! No one ever “asked” for a NICU baby, but if you have one, I’m not sure there is any better care! Photo was a Christmas donation with our NICU graduate and some of his favorite doctors and nurses!
My daughter is here now and I’ve never had a worse experience. Most of the staff are rude. One day we get told we’re going home next week and then the next day we get told not for a couple more weeks. Changes everyday depending on who you talk to. I’ve watched staff make fun of parents, mock people when they can’t understand them, and simply just be awful people. I allowed my daughter to get the surgery they recommended and they have figured out everything about her that they need to know so I don’t understand why she’s not home or why we can’t be told an estimate. Do not bring your child here.
I have wish they had a rate scale for the nursing staff and a rate scale for the doctors staff. The nursing staff was kind, respectful, and understanding. The doctors on the other hand do not communicate, comes in with a different story or just dont come in at all. Yes I know they are busy people but when your 2 yr old daughter is life flighted to there hospital and they let her seat there for 5 hrs before coming in her room that is unacceptable.
My son comes out of surgery getting a chest tube for pnuminia and we go from a room with a bathroom and a place to sleep for 2 adults to a room with one chair and NOWHERE TO SLEEP. Why were we transferred? Not sure but this entire West wing is a mess in this ICU and yalls front desk staff isn't professional at all. Drs and nurses weren't bad. But this entire place needs work. Mind u we are here day 6 and on the day of our sons surgery we are transferred to a ghetto room with nowhere for us to sleep. Despite all the nice acting we will never use this hospital again
I only have one complaint & that's that a said woman on my daughter's surgery team told me she'd be in the room with her the entire time then 10 mins after I received my update call that she went to sleep good & surgery was started , she walked in the waiting room talking to another employee that checks you in, I understand stuff happens & plans change but you don't tell & parent one thing & not say anything about her having to leave during the update call. That's on the 8 floor. The 6 floor has been absolutely amazing! They all go above and beyond even when their short stuffed. A big shout put to nurse Hannah aka tinker bell the nickname we gave her, went above & beyond got my daughter more slashes than I can count on one hand in a matter of a few hrs. When her pain got out of hand & she was restless trying to rip her iv & Cathered out , she was quick to react & Get her back comfortable as quick as the pharmacy got the medicine ready. Hannah thank you so much from the bottom of my heart it ment the world to us to have you as her nurse, if we ever have to be back you're working her floor or either of my children have to be we will forsure request you! The hospital have been horrible lately & it's made my anxiety through the roof knowing we had to come but after our experience this weekend I've gained my faith back into health care or at least @ Norton's children's hospital downtown. All their nurses have been good to us & have & currently are taking amazing care of my girl!!! This team they've got right now is the best nurses, I've ever encountered in my 23 years of life!
Nurses - outstanding; I cannot say enough positive things. Doctors and specialists, however, are terrible, medically negligent, and incompetent. Child has been here 21 days with significant issues and the doctors did nothing! Admitted we need major tests; but won't do or schedule the tests until we're seen in the office. Admitted we need a referral to an out of state specialist, but cannot make the referral until seen in the office. Promised to get us an appointment within a few weeks. Nope, next available office appointment is 5 months from now after spending 21 days in the hospital??? Sent us home with meds with no refills, certainly not enough for 5 months! Pediatrician cannot write the scripts because it's a med that has to be written by a specialist. Sent MyChart message to specialist, but they won't give refills until seen in the office...in 5 months. Anyone but me see a problem? I wouldn't send a stray dog here, no offense to stray dogs. They only throw meds at symptoms, but refuse to determine the cause! Terrible "care" and poor treatment plan for discharge.
