My uncle spent the last four months he was alive there. The Drs, nurses and staff took great care of him. They not only care about the patients, they care about the family.
What a horrible excuse this place is for “caring.” Their front desk assistants are hateful, demeaning, and clearly irritated with the population they CHOSE to serve. It’s disheartening to see individuals treat humans with such disrespect and malice after CHOOSING a healthCARE position. If you’re miserable, work from home. Plenty of jobs at home that welcome that kind of attitude, I’m sure.
Impossible to contact anyone for info after admission. Claim to not have an ombudsman. No one can tell me why my husband’s ambulance didn’t arrive or if it even will. It’s 1 1/2 hours late and we can’t even reach the nurse.
Clean and friendly staff. It is a long walk though lol but the staff is great and they work hard to get your testing and your appointments and registered in a timely manner
I am completely disgusted with the majority of the care that my dad has received while he has been in the hospital the last 24 days. As a nurse I am well aware of how the system works and it is not always well, but there are just some things that are uncalled for. While we have had several issues during his stay, I am simply at a loss for words as I sit in the hospital room still waiting for him to be discharged at 630 pm. The doctor came at 730 this morning and here we are still waiting 11 hours later to be able to go home. Discharge has been discussed for the last 2 days and yet no case manager has come to the room in preparation of that and the number given for one is someone who is off today, meds were not brought from the pharmacy until 5pm, and home infusion did not come until 630 pm due to orders not being put in properly for tube feeding. It is unbelievable that this discharge has taken all day because the left hand didn't know what the right was doing.
My mother had surgery, only person who spoke with me was the doctor. Been up here since 10 am no communication at all. Finally a nurse spoke with me and apologized at 7pm. Wish i would of got his name but kudos to him. I know there's a shortage but to completely ignore someone is unacceptable.
The wait between registration and getting prepped for surgery was lengthy, but understood. The support team was very friendly, and very professional. I felt like I was in good hands. Outpatient surgery went off without a hitch.
Norton was amazing with the exception of one person. The nurse who asked me questions after surgery told me at one point “Why are you crying? That won’t help with the pain” in an abrasive tone. I then told her that I was 4 in the pain scale and if I can have pain killers. She then told me “You don’t need pain killers for a 4”. I told her pain is actually 6 so she can give me pain meds. I was still processing where I am at this point and I literally just woke up from general anesthesia disoriented and in pain. She was just generally unpleasant and abrasive. I couldn’t even see my surroundings because I don’t have my glasses at the time. I did not expect my emotions and pain to be invalidated by a healthcare worker. I was non-stop crying during discharge and on the way home. Bedside manners and compassion matter for someone who’s in pain. All the other nurses who helped me out and the anesthesiologist team were very gentle and kind though. Special shoutout to the sweet lady who brought us to the car and pushed my wheelchair. She even hugged me because I was still crying at that point. I can’t just let go of my bad experience with that specific nurse, I hope she doesn’t act like that towards other patients in the future.
When I say I’m disappointed I am EXTREMELY disappointed. I work in healthcare so I know what it is like to be short staffed working the floor. BUT when my mother had to have surgery and is supposed to have dressing changes daily and she goes 2 days without it getting changed, having to wait an hour and a half for someone to help her to the restroom, her room being a mess from the workers not cleaning up after themselves, taking over an hour to answer the call light, listening to the nurses in the hall complain and call providers stupid, and then getting a attitude with me when I ask them questions about my mother.
This Hack has caused all kinds of problems. I can’t get my meds haven’t had them since Thursday. Drs office said I would be notified when and where to pick up prescription. No call. Now it’s a long weekend without my meds. This isn’t right. I have been a patient since before my dr came to Nortons.
