So glad we found this place! Got the shrimp curry and it was a great mixture of flavors and spices and loved the drink that tasted like being on the beach. The portions were big enough that we all had leftovers and loved being able to try something a little different. Great service from a very friendly staff. The atmosphere is very relaxed and refreshing, and one of the best parts was the live reggae band. Will definitely be going back!!

Good Ethiopian and Jamaican fusion. The service was attentive friendly. The oxtails and goat curry were great from the Jamaican side of the menu. From the Ethiopian side the lamb tibbs were a little better than the key wot, but all was good. The waiter gave us trials of pineapple mango ginger and sorrel. Both were good. This is a fun addition to the ethnic food scene in KC. We will be back!

Awaze is by far the best quality food in the city... possibly the country, as a cut above quality compared to it’s competition.
The chef is a true artist, and he is kind and humble in person. They have large portions, incredible consistent quality, and the service here is the superior. I’ll always eat here, because this place is like home to so many of us!!! No competition here.
The beauty of the art, and the liveliness of the establishment can’t be matched. You can tell this place was established in love and passion. It’s like stepping out of KC and into another world of culinary and cultural realm, and...you just never want to leave! Thank you Awaze!

I was in Kansas City for a conference and was very pleased to find good Caribbean and Ethiopian food where I least expected it. The decor is low-key but the food more than made up for it. Also check out the open Mic, which was a nice plus to my meal.

The goat curry was excellent and so was the service! Our waitress was very nice and gave us samples of the different juices they make in house. I ended up having the sorrel juice with rum and it was very tasty. I'll be back to try one of the Ethiopian dishes!
