Blue Cow Ice Cream Co.

The wonderful aroma of fresh bake waffle cones tickles your nose as soon as you enter. They have a nice selection of seasonal and classic selections. My daughter got the blue cow patty and was very pleased. My son had to strawberry balsamic and to my amazement, loved it. My husband got the coffee chip and chocolate cayenne in a waffle cone. He enjoyed both. I had the brown butter pecan and mine was a little freezer burned. Overall we enjoyed our ice cream and the atmosphere.

Absolutely worth it!! My friend and I split a four flavor ice cream flight. It is a great way to try a few different flavors because they have so many great options. They offer free samples also if you are having a difficult time choosing. The manager was very friendly and the place was super clean and smelled of fresh baked waffle cones. Its conveniently located on the greenway. I'd recommend Blue Cow over and over again.

Blue Cow does non-typical flavors (and chocolate) that are well blended: Balsamic Strawberry, Goat cheese and blueberry swirls, stuff like that. The ice cream is delicious! My 1st visit was chocolate in a waffle cone. The homemade waffle cones are worth eating plain. So good. Next visit was a Balsamic Strawberry milkshake: real ice cream, real milk, real shake. They also offer some toppings: couple of candies, waffle cone crumbles, Oreos, etc. Go eat here!

Unique flavors dot the selections at this small ice cream shop. Most everything is homemade with ice cream flavors such as strawberry basalmic, goat cheese blueberry swirl and chocolate cayenne. Friendly staff and patient, especially given the fact we arrived 15 minutes before closing time.

Very good ice cream at a spot just a few feet from the Roanoke River Greenway. Outdoor seating on a covered patio also available.
