They did an unbelievably amazing job of repairing my cello. It has never looked or sounded as beautiful.

I love this store - atmosphere, selection, people - everything. They are sort of like string music evangelists in the community, doing much to promote great music in many ways. At the shop one can learn about concerts, music camps, orchestra opportunities, etc. The people are so friendly and eager to answer my many questions, completely and patiently. Recently one of the luthiers let me watch while he was working on my bridge. He wasn't doing anything fancy, but I'm new to string playing and try to learn all I can. It was fascinating!

I rented two instruments from Vermont Violins and had a pleasurable in-store experience. Later in time, I called to inquire when I was up for renewal and wanted to extend a 3-month violin lease to a 12-month lease. I received no response. I called a few weeks later. Still no response. And then I was charged for a 3-month lease again, which is why I called earlier to convert it to 12 months. I finally got to talk to a billing person who seemed confused. I thought I had it sorted out and later was charged for what I thought was the remaining balance on a 12-month lease for that violin. But, no one can know for sure because they don’t send receipts out when they automatically charge a card. Later in time, I’m charged yet again for a 3-month lease on the violin, the cello having been turned back in. I called to inquire and was told I was on a 3-month lease despite having asked for a 12-month lease, the other charge was for the cello I recently turned in, meaning I was undercharged, so they’d be sure to correct their oversight by charging me more. I asked for an itemized receipt for all past transactions, and for all future transactions. For future transactions I was told “we don’t do that.” He acquiesced when I said he couldn’t charge me without sending me a receipt. I really hope this is not representative of their business practices. I went to their website to find contact information for the owner and their website crashed...
