Ron Clemow was EXTREMELY helpful and honest - even after he knew his agency couldn't give me the best quote! Ron: "Please note, my agency does not offer the same coverage as you currently have. You do not have liability coverage at this moment. We only quote policies with liability. In the cases where there is no liability or lower limits of liability, we would use Progressive Insurance, which you are currently with. They appear to be the cheapest for your rates anyway. But per your request, I have rated you with my carriers and have attached a quote. Most companies cannot provide Roadside Assistance without having Comprehensive Coverage on the vehicle. Progressive is an exception to that. Mercury cannot offer Roadside without Comprehensive. PS – I just received the additional email for potentially more coverage to be quoted. Since we are more than what you currently paying, please advise if you wish me to send the endorsed quote to you. Thank you. ----- The rules in the state of Florida are confusing when it comes to Bodily Injury Liability. While they allow you to not carry this coverage… if you have an accident, the state can then require you to carry it and then make you add a filing called an SR22, which is an additional fee to you which pays them to monitor your insurance to make sure this coverage is now on your policy. Having been in claims and in the industry for a long time, we have seen what can happen if you do not have this coverage or are underinsured. Attorney’s in Florida are well practiced and we do our best to make sure our clients have the coverage they need in the event of an accident or claim. Me: I am familiar with the BIL law - and that it is required after an accident or DUI. I would like to be able to afford better coverage - believe me. Without having ran the MVR, is there any specific reason or do you have an idea why the quote is so high​? Ron: Looking in to some of the reporting that was done, the company did find an Accident on 01/12/17 and another on 09/20/16 that were included in the rate. The report that was able to be done was with the VIN Number provided via a report that companies use to report accidents. I am sure those contributed to the higher rates. However, even before those were found through the companies site, the rate was higher than your current with Progressive. Me: What report is this that you pull to see the driving record via VIN? The fender bender on 9/20/16 was actually my ex-girlfriend driving the vehicle at the time. We had shared a policy. I would like to contact this company/reporting service and get that accident removed. Ron: The type of report is called a CLUE Report. I just had to deal with this with a customer. The CLUE Reports are entered by the insurance company at the time of the claim, so other companies can see it. So the company to call is the company you were with at that time. It is definitely worth a call, but I am not sure whether or not they will be able to remove that from the Clue Report if the vehicle was your vehicle that she was driving. Insurance follows the vehicle. Violations follow the driver. So if there was an accident in a vehicle of yours that she was driving and your insurance company paid out, it is possible that the accident will remain on the report. If it was her car and not one that was or is still yours, I suspect that it can come off. This can be confusing so it is a good idea to call and see if they can assist. Me: Thanks Ron! You are correct again - just called LexisNexis re: CLUE Report and unfortunately that is how they report it. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to explain everything even though you cannot find me a better rate! Ron: It is my pleasure to help in any way I can. I wish I had a company for you but am glad to help regardless with these confusing issues. I do hope you can get the resolved. Sometimes mistakes are made on the CLUE Reports which can end up costing money. Thanks again. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you I the future.
