We visited last summer to try the trail and were happy we did. Didn't complete the whole trail though - went about half way to Springdale and then turned back. The scenery on the trail goes through a nice variety of areas from suburban to woods to farm. Will definitely come again.

I/We ride our bikes on this biking/walking trail frequently. The parking area on the Butler side seems small but we have always found a spot to park. The trail out of Butler is an ascent and the surface of the trail in some areas needs grooming. The trail makes numerous road crossing so you should take care at these points. There is a paved section closer to Freeport to access a municipal area that horrible for biking. Thankfully it's not too long. It would be nice to see this trail connected with/to the GAP in Pittsburgh at some point. By way of contrast, I think the GAP trail out of Pittsburgh is 4 stars, and the Western Reserve Greenway Trail on Ohio is 5 stars. The C&O is just 3 stars with some areas being just 2 stars.

Great trail! A little hard to find if your Google mapping or unfamiliar with the area. Tons of scene changes from farm to woods to golf course and more. Very rough sections if starting from Butler, but does smooth out.

The trail surface is very good and it passes through Scenic Countryside.
