Great French place without the attitude. Food is yummy and the servers are nice. Not cheap but not over priced either.

Excellent service! Both attentive and kind. The food was lovely and the atmosphere was perfect for conversation over wine.

The food was wonderful. I had french onion soup (the best I've ever tried!) and ravioli, which was actually a vegetable soup with a few lovely raviolis thrown in. I was not expecting a soup, but when I tasted it, I was in heaven! My husband had the salmon gravlax, which I thought was nothing special but he liked it and usually doesn't, and the "secret cut" steak with fries. It was excellent considering this meal is little more than meat and potatoes. We didn't specify how to cook the steak - it came out perfectly cooked - crispy on the outside and red and tender on the inside. The suggested wine parings were wonderful.

Incredible French restaurant located in the Financial District. If you haven't taken a walk down Belden Place, then you should check it out. It's a small alley that's blocked off by traffic and only a narrow walkway with several choice restaurants, Cafe Bastille being one of them. There is both indoor as well as outdoor seating which is well-covered by an awning and drapes that keep the heat in on a cold day yet remains relatively cool in the summer with all the shading. The service here is quite charming and the food is outstanding. I recently ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu and it was wonderful. If you're feeling adventurous then they have escargot which is also quite good.
