We started at Bear Butte State Park and ended at Wind Cave National Park. We took 2 weeks to hike the entire 110 miles; enjoying the journey and not racing through. Enjoyed rolling plains, rolling hills, mountains, valleys, creeks, lakes, rock formations, and trees. The main animal we saw was deer, prairie dogs and cows, and saw only 2 bison; we heard elk and coyote. There were days that it seemed it was all climbing with switchbacks, but then, there would be a reprieve and have an easy day. Beautiful trail and enjoyable trail.
