Once bitten, twice shy. About ten years ago I took my 90 lb lab in because he had torn a ligament in a rear heel. My local vet couldn't handle it, so I was referred to CTVS. Scout stayed overnight after surgery to have screws installed in the bones and a rubber band to attach to the screws. Eventually, in the healing process, his body would form tissue that would cover the band and he would regain normal use of the leg. After staying the night, I was told he could go home. The doctor had taped a thick (maybe 1/4") aluminum rod to his leg to stabilize it. Remember, he's 90 lbs. That night, he overpowered the aluminum rod and damaged the repair. He had to have the surgery done a second time. The hospital offered to give me the overnight stay for no charge, but I had to pay full price for the second surgery. I didn't have a choice. He had a hard cast on his leg when I picked him up the second time. I'm out $3000. Last month, I was sent there because my 40 lb, 18 month old lab mix wasn't keeping food down. Her usual vet said he thought he felt something in her gut that might be an obstruction. He sounded very concerned, made an appointment for me to take Annabelle in for an evaluation. They got me in fast. Dr Adamovich took her for x-rays and ultrasound, but said they didn't see anything that would cause blockage. She urgently suggested surgery to open Annabelle's stomach and intestines. I agreed. Nothing found. Biopsy of her stomach and intestine lining showed nothing unusual. She kept throwing up after the surgery. I took her off HEB heritage ranch dry food and she hasn't thrown up since, but I'm out another $3000 for this. Maybe a suggestion of a diet change would have taken care of it, but no money is made for that kind of advice. I'm sick over this whole thing and the money I've had to spend there. Please look elsewhere for pet care. I won't go back.

As an equine surgeon, I know the value of advanced medicine, client communication and patient care, all of which I would like for my own animals. I have experienced all of these at CTVSH. Dr. Kerpsack has been extremely helpful in taking care of my dogs needs and I would highly recommend he and his staff. I received a follow-up call checking in after surgery which is also awesome!

I took my dog in w/a bee sting on his paw. By the time they shaved it, the swelling went down quite considerably. They offered me a cortisone shot I refused but told me to buy liquid Benadryl and told me what amount to give my 7 pound dog. Then they sent me on my way without charging me a dime! What wonderful people! That saved me $98 for the visit and $50 for the shot. I take all my animals there when Emancipet is closed. The staff are very nice and I have never had to wait to long, even when they are busy!

Be aware, This is NOT a 24 hour facility if your pet requires round the clock treatments. We had to take our dog to North Hospital, near Duval when our dog was stung by bees. Policy is ...Pets will be watched by your vet during day and the HOSPITAL will watch during the night. You must pick your pet up in the morning and return them to your vet. This is ok for non life- threatening treatments. However; Shuttling your pet between clinics when ill only stresses them and you out. The Hospital staff will treat immediately and they do provide excellent care... it's the after hours policy that's upsetting when your pet needs time to heal.

Dually, my 2 year old pit, was fixed by Dr. O'Donnell and staff, after tearing his ACL. We loved everything about this vet hospital...even the price (you have to pay for good quality care and specialists)! Top notch all the way! Thank you!
