Do you like Country French cuisine? Would you like to see the nightlife in L.A.'s new arts district? Like great wait staff? Then Church & State is your place. Not a lot of sauces which are standards in French cooking. There are many good ingredients and wonderful preparations. We enjoyed the beat salad and endive salads. They were as wonderful to see as to eat. We enjoyed the mushroom pasta; it was delicious! Also, mussels with cream and tarragon was sublime. Enjoy!

Don't be mislead by the location, it's like finding a diamond in the rough. Being in the industrial district of LA adds mystique to this restaurant, if the food is not mystical enough to the discriminating palate. An old warehouse which seemed to have been taken out directly from the meat-packing district of New York transported to LA and converted to an eclectic restaurant dishing out magical fare consistently to paying patrons for years is a feat. I have hosted very valuable friends to this restaurant quite a few times and always get the same comment: "A great choice".

It's a cool place but service went way wrong. First course came out with cold veggies. Soup was good but far from hot. Never got bread though tables around me did. Water was never refilled. White wine came room temperature. So I got the manager involved. Entrees came out soon after and hot. Dessert was prompt. Then we waited and waited for the bill... Zero tip justified.

Good food. The 1 1/2 hours it took for us to dine was ridiculous. Really slow service

Church and State deserves a NO STAR review. Dined there last week. Bad enough that 2 of our party of 3 got terrible food poisoning from bad beef. The way the management responded was far worse. Olivia and Tony took no responsibility, even refused to speak with us. Instead they made their assistant general manager take the fall. Pathetic. This is how businesses fail. Stay away from Church and State - it is sickening .
