Taix French Restaurant

My boss and I came here for dinner on a business trip and were (pleasantly) surprised to discover that this restaurant was connected to a cooking school. The food was amazing and the server was very attentive and informative. I told her what type of wine I like, and since none of the wines that they normally serve by the glass looked to my fancy, she let me have one that they serve by the bottle since it was saved from a private event they had before. Everything we tasted was great - I just deducted one star since their menu is somewhat limited and our duck was a little cold.

This place was....strange. On one hand, it clearly has a lot of history behind it and has been a staple in the area for a very long time. A restaurant doesn't last so many years without good reason. But I was underwhelmed. The food wasn't great. The atmosphere was stale - it has a smell that tells you the place hadn't been updated/renovated in decades. It was busy when we were there, though. And we spoke with another table, an older couple out for their anniversary, that had been patronizing the place for many years. So maybe my experience was an anomaly!

I love the ambience, beautifully french, tall ceilings, very comfortable cozy booths. We ordered french onion soup which was wonderful, and skirt steak. Ours was little over done and they promptly brought us a new cut. VERY elegant. Excellent service.

Really good wedge salad and short rib special on Mondays. The French bread is super good. The service is always the best. You will pay $3 for parking.
