Club Car Restaurant & Lounge

I have been here a couple of other times and I've had good food and good service every time. This time I had the Cuban which was good although I should have asked for more mustard. The pickles were excellent. Their fries are delicious, they are different than most restaurant fries almost a crinkle outside to them. One of the best things that they have their is the Iowa old fashioned which is a local Twist on the classic drink. It is quite tasty and the portion sizes on it are fantastic especially for the price. The only thing I noticed this time that was a slight negative was that it did take quite a while for our food to come out. Granted it was the lunch rush, but I don't seem to remember it taking that long last time. If you are going to do lunch you really should get there slightly before noon so you can get a table without waiting because this is a popular spot for lunch meetings.

I've dined at this establishment many times as it was my dad's favorite restaurant. My dad passed away recently and I called the restaurant to see if it would work if approximately 15 people came in after the visitation. They were more than accommodating and, as always, the food was excellent. The staff have always been very friendly. It feels like a hometown type of place and not just another restaurant among the many we could pick from. Thank you to the staff for all the great memories.

The mushroom appetizers, potato soup, and reuben were absolutely delicious. The service was over the top exceptional too. I absolutely would highly recommend this place and I will be back.

Went there for the first time last Friday. A friend and I arrived about 4:00 and sat in the bar area, since the restaurant area was dark. It was a bit before anyone approached us. The server who finally came to our table made it clear we were an inconvenience. She did not introduce herself or tell us about any specials or offer us menus, just asked if she could get us any drinks. We ordered our drinks and I didn’t even have a chance to ask for a glass of water or a menu before she was gone. She brought our drinks and we didn’t see her again for quite awhile. We were finally able to order a second round, still no menus. We had been there well over 90 minutes at this point, so I went up to host station by the front door and grabbed two menus myself. After my friend and I decided what we wanted to eat, we still got no attention until I stood my menu up on the end of the table. Another server, who introduced herself as Ellen, said she could take our order and that we were actually her table, but she had been late and the first server had been helping her out. I told Ellen that the first server seemed pretty unhappy that we were there. Ellen apologized and we placed our order and had no more problems. I loved my martini and my dinner, and I will probably go back, but will move tables if approached by that first waitress again.

Great restaurant in W Des Moines.......nice menu with lots of options. Reasonable prices. When we visit friends in IA we always go to this restaurant!
