Columbia Heights is one of the more dangerous metro stations in the system. Its surrounded by public housing projects with gangs fighting for turf frequently. Don't stick around here or you will get shot. There are good businesses here but the vagrancy is high making your walk a hassle as you decline beggars and crazies.
Very rude staff, I had a problem with my card and the worker there told me literally “jump the barrier like everyone else, bye bye”
Lots of incidents at this station. The only reason why its getting 3 stars is because there's lots of events like singing, dancing from people thats actually talented looking 4 attention like at gallery pl Chinatown. Wouldn't recommend going here at night though.
Columbia Heights has a lot of energy and people walking about. It is a little more sketchy than more central parts of DC, but nothing imminently dangerous. There are many cool restaurants and Bars in this area and it makes a good place to live as far as entertainment options.
As you exit the train station there was a little bit of some drug activity going on, but other than that Taco Bell is just to the right as you exit. It's a very diverse neighborhood and everyone seems to be very friendly.
A very nice complex housing several malls with quality products and low prices. Wide selection of accessories, toiletry, groceries, clothing and food items. It's also a very popular destination for shoppers and a good weekend getaway!
The Columbia Heights Metro stop is great. Plenty of entrances, frequent trains, cool design, and close to a bunch of very useful errand stops. Station can be a little dirty, but it's usually pretty safe and busy. A standby stop for anyone in the Columbia Heights area.
I stood at the service area waiting on the manager for 20 minutes because for some reason my smart trip kept saying “see station manager”. A few people were also standing there waiting for him just for us to find out that he was upstairs in front of the wawa running his mouth. Someone went and got him. When he comes down he doesn’t even apologize and has the audacity to have a nasty attitude as if we were the ones that kept him waiting. This put a really nasty taste in my mouth
If you're familiar with the metro, nothing should be too surprising about this station. Relatively constant funky smell, occasionally working escalators, the usual loitering folks, and very friendly people handing out newspapers.
Columbia Heights Metro Station is one of the more unique DC Metro Stations simple because of the beautiful art that welcomes you once you leave the gate and decide to go right or left up the escalators. Other than that, it still maintains the DC Metro look.
