Contemporary Music Center

I started taking lessons at CMC in 2012 with Mike Harrington. Mike is a great musician and a great teacher. He always let me learn at my own pace and never pushed or chastised me. He can play by ear and if I ever brought a recording in he could usually show me how to play it. I usually focused on Country music but if I got bored and wanted to spend a few weeks on something different Mike had no problem teaching me Jazz or Rock. He was always enthusiastic and always encouraging. In addition to individual lessons CMC provides students with the opportunity to play together with other musicians in the Rock Camps. I participated in one lead by Mike Harrington and another lead by Griffin Semple (another instructor at the school). He too was very knowledgeable and helped us come together as a band in a few short weeks. We performed at the club they built in the basement known as @4410. It is a professional looking stage with a real light and sound system run from a board at the back of the room by Jerry Hammack. Jerry always makes sure students look and sound their best. I met a drummer at the camp who I still practice with on a regular basis today. Overall I give Mike Harrington and CMC an A+ !!!

This place has been amazing! Both of my girls take guitar lessons from Mr Mike and have been brought out of their shell in less than a year. Jerry and Menzie both have a passion for music and a love for the students.

This place is incredible. Not only are they experts at what they do in the store, but they have this amazing venue downstairs that is one of a kind. Live music nearly every week!!! 5 enthusiastic stars!

I have loved how much our daughter has grown her musical talent through Rock Camp and private lessons at Contemporary Music Center. We love the staff, and @4410, their performance venue, is one of our favorite places in town!
