These guys and their product is great but if you mount it forward of the normal spot beware the back might slide off if driving in heavy wind. After driving with 40-50 mph on the nose ours pulled out but thankfully no damage done to rods or truck. We picked up the rod vault while heading through town and the guys at the shop helped me install it. High wind on I80 in Wyoming caused the back to slide out so I remounted it and then drilled and tapped it for a 3/8 long bolts to make sure it would never pull out again. If you mount it so the attachment is on the front bar I would recommend you consider this small modification to ensure your back portion doesn’t wiggle free as highway speed winds exert pressure on the reel cage. When you pick up the product you will know it is well built and I look forward to no longer having to rig my and my two kids rigs every time we want to fish a stream.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I purchased the 3 rod holder a year ago as a Father’s Day gift for my husband. Used it less than a dozen times. A few weeks ago Aug 2020 the door slipped out of my hand and closed, the bottom broke, and the lock mechanism completely fell out. It is not repairable. Now owned by Thule, we’ve sent emails and sat on hold endlessly without email response or getting to a customer service representative. We are beyond angry and frustrated at the poor craftsmanship and lack of customer service. We can’t use this at all. ANSWER YOUR PHONE AND EMAILS!

I ordered a Rod Vault ST and it shipped quickly. It was delivered when I was not at home so I was excited to see I had a delivery but the problem was the way FedEx handled the package. It arrived looking liked it was sent around the world, twice. Not surprisingly, when I opened the box I found damage. I contacted the guys at Denver Outfitters and sent some pictures of the package and damage. They got anther one out to me immediately with no issues. This one arrived in perfect shape and installed easily. I haven't actually used it yet but I can say it is solidly built. At 80mph there is no vibration or noise and very little movement. My brother liked it so much he wanted one. Denver Outfitters made a deal on the damaged one and we bought it too. I certainly recommend buying one. Its money well spent to transport rods, especially extensive ones.

I ordered my rod box ST just before Christmas and it arrived much sooner than I thought. It is a fantastic way to transport my bass fishing rods without having to put them inside my truck. I mounted the box to the Yakima he rack in the back of my Tacoma and it is a very stable and secure platform. The rod box was easy to assemble with step by step instructions and the included hardware. I am looking forward to using this rod box for many years. Customer service is fantastic. I originally ordered the lock kit so I could secure the rods in the box. Customer service contacted me before processing the order to let me know that the ST came with a lock. They could have easily shipped me the lock kit and I would have been left to go through the process of return and refund but that wasn’t necessary. The issue was taken care of before it became an issue for me. In the limited market of transporting standard fishing rods outside of the vehicle I can not imagine a better option.

After reading certain past post I would have to say Denver Outfitters has really stepped up their game. I placed my order for a four rod vault system in January and received everything i needed on time. Installation instruction were clear and easy to understand. Had a minor issue with the door lock system on a trip i took last week, not sure if it was my own fault or not. Contacted Denver Outfitters and was able to talk to someone on the phone right away. I explained the situation and they shipped a replacement part no questions ask. Further more when I told them how soon I needed it for my next trip, they personally went down to the post office to get the delivery processes started. Can't say enough about the help i received. Great product, great customer service, great people to work with... what else can you ask for. Thanks again guys!

I am extremely impressed with the vault, but as important, is my experience with Denver Outfitters customer service. It appears the company is now in good hands. Originally, UPS damaged my vault during the shipping process. The team at Denver Outfitters responded very quickly and sent a new vault before we even worried about how to get the damaged one back. They took care of me as if I was the only customer they had, which is invaluable in this industry. The investment in a Rod Vault is one you will not regret, and you can rest assured the product is backed by tremendous customer service.

Great company with great service. I ordered my Rod Vault last Christmas. I called the company to ask a few questions with regards to my vehicle everyone I spoke to was very friendly and my rod vault shipped the next day. I have used my rod vault for almost a year now . It has visited 5 states Fly fishing. I love the way it looks and how easy it is to move from spot to spot knowing your high end rods are protected. Great product and Great company

Rod Vault is wonderful, but Denver Outfitters Customers Service is awful. Ordered a replacement lock set and was told a specific day that it would be shipped by I had a deadline that I needed to lock by for a fishing trip. Order was not shipped until 5 days after I was told it would be shipped, Denver Outfitters would not expedite the shipping speed even though it was their fault. Would not purchase anything from this company again.

Love the rod vault. We ordered 2 and unfortunately one was damaged in shipping not their fault!. The crew at Denver outfitters shipped one out on the spot and had a replacement to us within days. We use the 3 rod version and it has been perfect for jumping out at the river with rods rigged and ready. I leave it locked and keep a rod or 2 in there all the time. I’m thinking about mounting it in my garage during the off season just for rod storage. Great product, great crew to work with. Looks sharp on top of the truck too!

Do not buy a rod vault from this company. I ordered a rod vault in early February of this year and they told me it would be ready June 25th. I had thought that 4 months was an awful long time to wait but I went ahead with the purchase. It is now July 7th, I contacted Denver Outfitters to get an update and they nicely told me that they had no idea when they could have the vault ready. On top of this I have two friends who have the same vault and both of which broke within the first month of ownership. No warranty unless you buy one and replacement parts are months out. I am not the complaining type of person and have never written a negative review in my life. But if you are even considering buying a rod vault from Denver Outfitters I would urge you to reconsider that.
