On our many travels to Maine we have eaten at Dysart’s Restaurant. The food has always been amazing and service is generally the same. About a week ago we visited your establishment to take her parents out for Mother’s Day lunch because that is their favorite place (which they have said they will not be going to again because they were upset about the whole situation). Due to medical issues where she can only consume small amounts of food at a time. So, my wife requested a children’s menu so she didn’t have to pay an arm and leg for food that she would have had to throw out when she was finished. The waitress asked her if she had had gastric bypass surgery. She said NO, but with her medical issues she could only eat small portions and didn’t want to waste so much food and money. She said “well I can’t sell you anything from “that” menu because you are over 10 years old”! . She didn’t mention anything about mini menus until my wife was frustrated and said “that’s fine, bring my parents food, I won’t be eating today”! So she sat and waited while her family ate! She also went up and spoke with management about the situation. They had the same answer. I’m sorry but It’s our company policy!! By the way, that policy stinks!!!
First of all, for you to ask someone about medical surgeries to see which menu they can order from is rude and inconsiderate. Second, if you allow a person who had surgery to eat from the children’s menu than anyone should be able to purchase from it, with or without medical issues after all they are still spending money. Third, for my wife to have to ask for a children’s menu is embarrassing and annoying for her to have to do so (plus, there usually only two or three things to choose from. Fourth, if you are not going to allow an adult to order from the children’s menu then you should at least provide a mini meal menu along with the regular menu at the time of being seated (which did not happen). It would help save your clientele from embarrassment, anger and frustration!

The best diner experience in Maine. Open 24 hours everyday. Staff is super friendly and nice. The food is amazing, has a real home cooked feel to it and I've never had anything I didn't like! Try their pies if your in for an experience.

Best truck stop north of Virginia. A real truck stop and not some chain travel center. Great food, very clean, fantastic service. I can not say enough good things about Dysarts. Thank you so much for everything.

The owner only responds to good reviews.Bad visit, inadequate seating for 11, waiter said a grandparent had to sit across the isle, I ordered a grand cobbler and asked for gravy and the waiter said I would have to pay for a thanksgiving sandwich which is $3.50 more. Completely unacceptable and will never return. The Coach house restaurant in Brewer is a much better place to eat.

I spend $30 on a Clam Belly dinner that was awful. They charged me $2.75 for large onion rings instead of French fries. Onion rings were hard to consume and the rest of the dinner didn't taste any much better. I had asked the waitress for a soda drink refill when she walked by my table many times. I bought dinner rolls here yesterday and enjoyed them greatly. Sadly, I won't be eating here again no matter how hungry I become.
