I've been trying to get in contact with them for over a year to have any info regarding my passport that is still being processed by them, the only answer I got was "You will have to wait"... WELL, FOR HOW LONG??? IT'S BEEN OVER A YEAR AND I ALREADY PAID THEM $400!! WHERE'S MY PASSPORT!?! They have no website to know the status of your passport nor immediate customer service. This treatment from a government facility is embarrassing even from an outsider point of view. I would give it a 0 but to rate them I at least need to give them 1. Question: If I go to their embassy in Washington D.C. would I be able to get a prompt answer or even get my passport the same day?

Called 14 times in 2 weeks, left 3 voice mail and no respond. It kept saying I was next in line please hold for operator, in the end it kept telling me to leave a voice mail after the beep. Why would they make me wait 5 minutes each time and telling me I was next in line or telling me to hold to speak with the operator if they were gonna have me leave a voicemail. For those who are trying to contact them by phone and seek for help, DO NOT CALL. You will not be able to speak with the operator. It has been almost 3 weeks since I left this review( ABOVE) I am editing this review to keep everyone updated. I'd emailed them 2 times and have not gotten a respond for them yet. Good luck for those who are seeking for help!!!

Update 3/7/18: I had to update to a two star because they finally answered my inquiry. I'm still livid because something went wrong and they cannot issue the passport. So I now have to wait another 12 or 13 months and pay them AGAIN! But at the least there was communication this time. ****************************************************** Original Review: I have no words to describe my dissatisfaction and disappointment in these people. I have been waiting for a passport from this embassy for a year now... A YEAR FOLKS! And I have received no answers or indications that they are even working on it. I did so through a travel agency (one approved by them by the way) and they haven't been informed of anything either. I have family in the country whom I have not seen in over fifteen years. I've been trying my best to go see them before some of them end up passing away. But it looks like they'll die waiting on me to be able to go over there. Lack of empathy and work ethics. Specially considering the passport cost is over $400. I just hope I get it before it's too late, that is if they even started working on it. Extremely disrespectful to people who've paid for their services. The United States should really close this place down. They are just glorified thiefs!

They never answer the phone. Wish I could rate it a ZERO.

I love my country and I have a sugestion for the Cuban Minrex. It would be economically advantageous for the Cuban economy if the cost of the passport fee were to drop. Currently the cost of $380 for a new passport plus two renovations of $160 every two years is not appealing for thousands of Cubans that no longer have relatives in Cuba but would like to visit our island. For example , if the passport price is set at least at $300 for 6 year and the prorrogas are eliminated the Cuban economy would received a surge of cuban nationals living abroad that would like to go as tourists in a yearly basis. Economically speaking if every cuban living abroad goes once a year to Cuba they would expend at least a minimun of a $1000 per visit. The cuban government would get the $400 difference in the reduction cost of the passport many times back . In the same 6 year period the cuban economy would receive at least a minimum of $6000 per visitor. There are thousands upon thoudands of cubans like me waiting for a passport reduction like the one explained above to go back to the island as tourists. But the current fees are too high right now and constitute a roadblock of economic opportunity for our island nation.
