For me, the very expensive shops are not the big draw--Manhattan's best food court is. Lots of very good upscale take out options of a very wide range of cuisines--Mighty Quinn's BBQ is my fave--and you can sit looking over Brooklyn, perhaps in their lovely garden. Be prepared to stand in line, as the food court is very popular with Wall Streeters, locals and tourists.

Very pretty water front complex. Has nice coffee and some cute shops around. It's great for the view and for taking tons of photos! There's a mini museum upstairs which I found to have very interesting information and displays, well worth it especially if you're a student cause it's free.

Large and newly renovated, high end stores in this converted warehouse open air mall along cobblestone streets. Excellent views of Manhattan from the west side bordering Brooklyn Bridge Park on the East River. Check out VHH Foods for an excellent meal, they bring the same quality from Vinegar Hill House the original restaurant.

Had a really good time there a mix of rare brands and projects with history and zone development. Definitely worth the trip if you are in to looking at the changes in new York. Ten years ago the zone was a post industrial artists hideout and now is a gallery and restaurants filled place full of tourists.

Nice place for the bourgeouis and tourist to mingle together. Vhh foods is really good, but a bit pricey. The building is a beautiful waterfront building, housing a West Elm, and a lot of bare, unused prime waterfront real estate.
