We visited Eric's Porter Haus on a Tuesday. It was very empty at 6:00 however it was the Tuesday after Memorial Day so maybe that had something to do with it. Very nice restaurant, somewhat formal with white table cloths, set is an old house. Their menu is fairly extensive with steaks, chops, ribs, and a limited German offering. We ordered a rack of ribs and the Chicken Marsala. Most entre's come with two sides, which is nice, although the Marsala, with pasta as part of the plate only came with a single side. For a side we ordered the French onion soup which had a very good flavor, rich and thick with onions. The Chicken Marsala was very tender however was a little bland, expected more flavor. The rack of ribs was large, very large actually, however you could clearly taste that it was reheated and while tender it certainly wasn't "fall of the bone". The sauce was sweet, no smoke taste and was light on the ribs. Ribs were okay. Overall the meal was okay/good, certainly not great. Service was good but given the place was empty I expected that. There were 3 things specifically that we took issue with; 1. $4 for a soda is very high, highest we've ever had in a restaurant and while supposedly coke products, it didn't taste like it. 2. They rounded up the cost of meals, $27.95 for ribs was billed as $28 for example. It's not the cost but why not make that the price in the menu. Finally 3. They charged us 4.0% to use a credit card (surcharge). I'd never expect that in a restaurant and had I been told would probably paid cash. The food wasn't good enough to overcome these nickle/dime issues which is why I rated 3 stars. We will probably not go back.

We went there for the fish fry. The food was delicious and service was also good. The atmosphere and architecture of Eric's is stupendous! Parents beware they only have one high for the whole place so bring you own seat or hope you get lucky.

Nice selection. Excellent bluegill. Potato pancakes just so-so. Good grilled veggies. Creme brulee ok but more like vanilla pudding.

Wonderful restaurant right downtown Waukesha. If you're lucky you'll actually catch Eric and he'll fix you a cocktail at the bar but be careful not to have too many. Their fish fries a huge hit every Friday but the rest their menu is just as phenomenal as people say the fish fry is.
