A hidden gem nestled away in the woods just west of Palmyra, you won't be disappointed. This was my first dining experience at Trout House so here is my first impression. The staff was very attentive, polite and pleasant. The food was prepared well and the portions I thought were very generous. I was surprised by the number of customers for a cold rainy Friday in April so I would recommend that you make reservation. The menu has some variety with the emphasis on seafood along with NY. Strip for the steak lover, some chicken and pork entrees. I chose the Shrimp Creole for my first visit, the rice was firm and sauce was seasoned so it had just a hit of spicy, the shrimp were fresh and prepared expertly. I would not hesitate to recommend The Trout House.

Great food, everything was perfectly prepared. Server was knowledgeable and very nice. Lovely country locale and plenty of parking. Food did take a bit, so be aware.
Prices are reasonable, don't expect cheap. Make a reservation, or come very early.

Mother's Day brunch was so disappointing. I don't like giving one star reviews, but the food was just not good. Almost everything I tried was either over-cooked, not well made or not well seasoned. There were no pastries or muffins and just two dessert options, and the one I tried was dry, obviously not homemade and carelessly dumped on a platter. They sat our large party against a wall so people had to climb over each other to get their brunch. The chef kept having problems with the heating elements below the hot food items, and would cut right in front of customers, talking on his cell. There was a sad looking salad and over-cooked pastas and cafeteria eggs. Our waitress was lovely but she was the only nice thing about the experience. It was not worth $350.

First time for Trout Chowder. Best chowder I have ever eaten.Spicey but not too hot Virgin Mary’s.
Wife ordered filet and whipped potatoes and asparagus spears. Said steak was very tender and liked the flavor. Whipped potatoes and asparagus spears were seasoned good with lots of flavor.
I ordered fried trout, potato pancakes and asparagus spears. Spears must have been good as I gave them to my buddy and he ate all of them.
Trout was good, batter was very good. Will not order it again as I did not care for the fish flavor. Pancakes were great, good flavor and crunchy, just the way I like them.
Prices are comparable to other fine restaurants and service was very good.
We will return.

Went in on Saturday evening and was turned away because they didn't have room for two adults and two children. Even thought the dining room was half empty.. then upon walking out got to witness a waitress and a chef have a argument on the sidewalk right outside the front door. Very very unprofessional!! Such a shame that the nicest place in the area has gotten so bad. Time to get your act together Trout House!!!!! I will give it one more shot some time in the near future but if its anything like the last few times I will be greatly disappointed.
