My wife Pam and I stopped at Fazoli's in Ankeny on our way to pick up some items at the new Costco Store. I was craving pasta so I ordered their Spaghetti with meatballs and marinara sauce. Every time we've eaten at this location it's been a good experience, the staff is always friendly and helpful and the food superb. Our orders came quickly and as expected were delicious, right to the very last bite. This Fazoli's must be well managed, as its always clean and consistently excellent every time we've eaten there. I give them my heartiest recommendation. I forgot to mention how good Fazoli's generous offering of breadsticks were, they arrived at our table piping hot and tender with a pleasant note of garlic.
So I went to get some Fazoli’s and this is what I received after asking for a chicken parm no cheese and breadsticks. I received a slop of different noodles with a drizzle of sauce with the most cheese I have ever seen in my LIFE. I had to perform surgery to remove the pounds of cheese. The breadsticks are moist on the outside and somehow still dry on the inside?? Seems like someone just rinsed them off and put them in a bag… don’t get me started about the chicken, taste like they went out back and rummaged through the trash to grab three measly pieces of chicken, rinsed them off in the hand washing only sink and proceeded to SLAP the “chicken” in the cluster of combination noodles. Moral of the story, pay your employees so they actually care about their job. I saw the person handing the order turn around and ask the cook something, the cook replied with “just give it to them” probably not paying attention because his music was too loud on his headphones. Thank you Fazoli’s for a fun and fresh Friday night. Do better
Service was great, friendly and attentive. Pasta dishes were average to below average. We ordered the Grand Sampler which was supposed to come with lasagna we didn't get any, the chicken Alfredo didn't have any chicken in it, the meat sauce on the ravioli was meatless. They gave us plenty of bread sticks, the flavor was great but they were overbaked & seemed like they had been sitting awhile. The pizzas we ordered, both the pepperoni and cheese, were amazing . The fried mozzarella skewers were awesome !
Went in with my family at 8pm to get some food. We stood at the counter for ten minutes as the lady behind the counter clearly on her phone it was sitting on the table right in front of us did not acknowledge us at all. She proceeded to talk on her phone and ignore the fact we were standing there waiting to order and making sure to not make eye contact as she walked back and forth in front of us. There was only one other family eating there this evening. After waiting for literally 10 minutes I decided to take my family elsewhere.
For the price, I expect better. The only reason I continue to eat here is because it's one of my daughter's favorite places. The meatballs are okay, but the red sauce begs for a heavy dose of parmesan to try and save it, but the parmesan adds a weird starchy/floury taste to the food. Service is consistently inconsistent, and most times seems either indifferent or bothered that you're there. The atmosphere, similar to the food, is nothing remarkable, although there seems to be more than enough seating, so that's a plus. The bread sticks usually soft and slightly greasy were dry and actually crunchy on both ends. Clear signs to me that they were either old stock, or overcooked from the start. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone as a place to eat. The only reason to go here at all is of you're in the same boat as me, and someone you care about has an inexplicable fondness of the food.
Went in about an hour before closing and staff was still as friendly as could be. Food was hot & tasty and they over stocked us on bread sticks. Glad this location is still around and doing well.Food: 5/5
This was a good Fazoli's that met our road-trip needs well. Our order was 100% correct and came with a HEAPING pile of complimentary breadsticks! Yum. Conveniently located just a couple minutes off of I-35.
Allen from Doing Des Moines here... First visit to this location, and first time in a Fazoli's since after the Covid-19 closures. The staff here is incredibly nice with proactive customer service. Not what I was expecting from a "fast food" place. At the register, Katie, was nice and might have even been smiling behind her face mask so hard to tell these days. I got checked up on multiple times on the dining room, too. What’s up with that? It’s like they care about their customers here. I took advantage of the $6 lunch combo lasagne, salad and a drink with a $2 off in-all discount making this a real cheap lunch. I shall return.
I went to Fazoli’s in Ankeny, Iowa on 7-30-2019 during the noon lunch hour. It wasn’t terribly busy where I was one of 7 seated tables. After ordering, the wait time until I received my food was approximately 10 minutes. My meal was accurate to what I ordered, hot, and tasty. The breadsticks are the #1 reason I come here. Normally, they come around with a basket of free breadsticks and ask if you would like any; today they did not ask or give me the option. They serve Coke products in the restaurant. Both the grounds and restaurant were very clean, which I appreciate. Side note: they use real silverware and glass dishes. I like that...it’s a nice touch. I would return, but would definitely ask about more breadsticks!!
There was a sign out side that said 5 meals under $5. When I came inside they said that deal wasn’t available. She offered a single pasta for $5 instead. I took it but as I sat down I saw on the tv that Wednesday was senior day and could have had a sale for salad and pasta for $4 as a senior. She didn’t tell me about that. Very frustrated. Just have the offers posted so they can easily be seen if the person checking out doesn’t know them.
