From the outside it looks suspect. The staff let us look at the buffet. Gr8 idea. I was very impressed. Food was gr8. Service was excellent. Desserts could've been replaced. The desserts tasted like they've been out all day.
Update 2018
It's still good seafood at a reasonable price We visit every year for cheer competition.

Love this place! There are a lot of overpriced restaurants in Virginia Beach that put shrimp and a very bready crab cake on the menu, and they advertise themselves as a seafood restaurant and the favorite of the locals. Fish Bones doesn't need to do the hype. Their Buffet has so many different kinds of actual Seafood on it you will not be disappointed. They're a little pricier than some of the other so-called seafood buffets on and along the boardwalk, but the difference is that this one actually has delicious Seafood. When we got there, we weren't sure about the buffet, or if we wanted the lobster tail special dinner for two, or just something from the menu. Our waitress, Katelyn, told us to check out the buffet, handed us the different menus and gave a rundown of everything they had - she was great! Sometimes you see your Buffet waitress when she gives you your first drink and you see her again when she hands you the check. Here, the wait staff took care of you throughout the entire meal - when our drinks got low Katelyn was right there with fresh drinks, and that was even after a busload of hungry senior citizens got there! After a week of also ran restaurants, Fish Bones ended our week on a high note!

My family usually goes to Captains Georges seafood when in town. But we decided to try something different. And it was a good decision. Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Even the music being played in the upstairs where we sat was on point. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. I can't remember his name. (Tall white gentlemen). We will definitely be back on our next trip to Tidewater area.

Initially things was good, waitress was really sweet only I started to get sprinkled with water through the window ( it was raining really bad at the time). We shifted over and still continued to eat, food was pretty decent. UNTIL a brown “bug” crawled across the table and hid in the little cut of the window. Told waitress, she got manager. His response was “oh we have no bugs, we have pest control come” and kept going back and forth to tell us that ( like we were lying about the bug crawling across the table. The waitress was more apologetic then the manager. After I did a video of it sittting in the cut and took it to show him on our way out, was he willing to take a few dollars off the HIGH bill of practically $90 after taxes for 2 buffets. Wasn’t impressed!!

Food was ok. Place was small, definitely wasn't designed to be a buffet. The owner or manager was all over and real angry the whole time. Pretty sure they cut our straws in half too.
