Flat Top Johnny's is very cool, but also very hipster; if you don't like Cambridge, do yourself a favor, and stay away. The staff is very friendly; the clientele seems to be mostly MIT kids very friendly, wicked smahht!, and I also saw a couple pool leagues and a pinball tournament or possibly a league. They have 10 nine foot pool tables they're huge, and they have a handful of arcades pinball. They have a great beer and drink selection, and the food is alright; it's typical bar food, but it's not terrible or the worst. There's no shellfish, so if you have an allergy, you're good to go! Overall, we enjoyed ourselves, and we'll be coming back! Salud!
I tried this place out for their pinball. They have about a half dozen pinball machines and skeeball, all modern versions. Wish they had more of a selection, but it was still fun. It sounds like they rotate their machines with A4cade. There was one old pinball machine in the back corner beyond all of the pool tables. Overall nice vibe to the place.
Best selection of well maintained pinball tables in the Boston area. It can be tough to get drinks during their peak hours but they have a solid selection of local craft brews. I don't play much pool there but they have a large selection of tables. Just make sure to beat the crowd to guarantee a reservation.
First time in. We’ll definitely be back. Came here for a few beers, appetizers & to play some pool. Did not disappoint. Buffalo wings and poutine were delicious! We had great service from the bartender even though he was pretty slammed on a busy, beautiful Sunday afternoon. Nice selection of beers. Tons of pool tables and really cool pinball machines. Very family friendly. The grandkids had a blast! Can’t wait to try the burgers.
Frequent post work spot for me and my co-workers. Pitchers are reasonably priced and we don't usually have to wait long for a table to open up. Tables are pay by the hour so you can claim one for as long as you like. Typical bar snacks but they're good, the truffle fries in particular are delicious. Good draft and can beer selection, new bathrooms, lots of space. Would take anyone here. Tables fill up quickly on weekends.
Great local beer on tap and bottles/cans. Went after work and had a quick meal and played some Pool. There's also some pinball machines in one portion of the place. Not a lot of options for the food menu, but the ones they have are pretty good and for drinks/billiards this place is great!!
I love this place. They have nice pool tables in good shape and the staff and people are friendly. If you want to grab a few beers or play a couple games of pool I would suggest taking a look. It's pretty crowded on weekend nights and might be hard to get a table. There is also a cycling group that takes over the place now and then. All and all a solid spot.
Amazing pool bar with 8-12 full-size tables. They always play great music from a breadth of genres. Drinks are great, with a wide range of beer on tap. Staff are the best: extremely friendly, attentive, and nice.
Hip bar with a good amount of pool tables 8-10. They charge an affordable hourly rate for a table. Casual atmosphere to drinks with small and large groups. They also offer pinball and skee ball. My only complaint is that the bathrooms are not in the bar but rather down a hallway inside of the building that this bar is in.
This isn't just a pool hall, it's a friendly hangout for locals that is equally welcoming to first timers. The owner is a big part of the Cambridge community, and he takes great care of his staff and customers. You'll have a great time here shooting pool, playing pinball, and eating casual food. As an added bonus, you'll feel good about spending your money at a place that supports the neighborhood.
