The shuttle driver picked us up at the airport in short order after a call to the front desk. There was an issue with some recent flooding and our room was unavailable, but the woman at the front desk was very kind & professional and made acceptable arrangements for us. I didn't get her name, but Kudos to whoever was working the overnight shift 07/18/22 The room was clean and quiet, it certainly showed some age in places but has certainly been well enough kept that we would stay again. The shower head worked well & had good pressure. The bed was comfortable & the sheets smelled good. The hotel breakfast was tasty, they had biscuits & sausage gravy, cheese omelettes, a few pieces of fruit, waffles, cold cereal & oatmeal and then the little plastic cabinet of bread & muffins. For drinks they had coffee, tea, cranberry juice & apple juice. One disappointment was that the pool is currently drained and being worked on so that was a big bummer. The room was too expensive in my opinion but in shopping around that's just the market, the rooms are all VERY expensive in Anchorage. I would stay here again but I might call ahead to see if the pool is functional if that's an amenity that you intend to use like it was for us.
This is where we stay when we don’t have a lot of options. We’ve stayed here twice and here’s what we’ve found: Pros: Great customer service Friendly staff and very helpful Pet-friendly Free airport shuttle Fits our family of 6 Cons: This building is set up very poorly and is in great need of repairs. The rooms are old and out of date and the few repairs that have been made in the rooms have “cut corners” so to say. Overall, this building has some great potential. We choose it because it fits our family of six and is pet-friendly but it’s not what I expect of a hotel with the name Hilton attached to it. I think it could be an amazing hotel if some serious renovations were done.
Extremely poor housekeeping services. They would not clean my room despite asking multiple times. I stay at hotels rather then AirBnB specifically to have my bed made every day and bathroom cleaned and fresh towels placed. That did not happen, despite my asking multiple times. Otherwise the location is very convenient, other staff were very nice, breakfast was good.
Needs updating in rooms, on each floor, bathrooms…. Our room is piece by piece coming apart. The big positives are NO BUGS and friendly people. The pool is non functioning and has been so all summer as informed from the front desk. Edited because we had to check out earlier than expected. I’m deathly allergic to cigarette smoke. This Hilton property allows people to smoke at every door. We complained to the front desk three times and called corporate. The front desk lady said that she cannot control the smokers. It is Alaska law to not smoke within 15 feet of the building. It is Hilton regulation to fine the smokers and kick the guest out. Instead the front desk was moody with us and with corporate. The room that we were put in is a “handicap” room. If a person with a disability needed to stay in this room they would not be able to work the shower because it is messed up and they would not be able to close or open the curtains. The remote on the wall did not function properly. If you like to breathe, have smoke allergies or generally like a nice place to stay go across the street to Home 2 Suites.
The staff at this hotel is friendly and responsive. I will give them that. But I can’t recommend. This property is apparently scheduled for major renovation and it is certainly needed, or actually overdue. Not only is the place generally outdated and scuffed up, but the kitchen floor laminate and transition strip in my room was completely trashed and should not have been left as is to wait for some not-yet-scheduled renovation. The guest laundry room is completely out of commission and they only tell you to go across the parking lot to the Hilton Garden Inn to do laundry after you’ve inquired/complained. They couldn’t be bothered to add that info on the “out of order” sign. Exterior door that is supposed to be locked is not… which was actually kind of convenient, but the idiotic sign taped to the door says “out of service or similar wording” with arrow pointing to who-knows-what—which seems to imply you can’t use it at all, which is not the case. The first morning I was there the breakfast was late and incompetently put out. A couple of mornings the breakfast included “sausage gravy” that was not gravy but mere watery slop. But in addition to all this, the hotel charged my credit card more than $7,000 AFTER I checked out — in amounts 1500+, 3,300+ and 2,300+ — above and beyond the $2,500+ legitimate room charges. They eventually told me these were “authorizations” and were never actually posted to my credit card. But the fact that they were excessively large and all dated after I had checked out seems very questionable still.
This hotel is the WORST. I checked in for a one night stay. I was billed for 3 nights. I’ve called 5 times to get a refund. They are not refunding my money or calling me back. Don’t stay here unless you are willing to get ripped off. *After Hilton posted the “please contact us message below. I did. The front office person could not help me. And said for the 6th TIME they would pass my info the supervisor. THIS HOTEL WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY
Friendly helpful staff. Location is good Property is need of some repairs, the side entrance door closest to the room lock was not functional, fire alarms randomly went off, toilet was broken maintenance fixed it once notified, bathroom had some mold issues. Laundry was down to one functioning machine...Rooms: 3/5
We arrived at the hotel after a long day of driving. I had booked a room with 2 queens and a pullout for my 5 person family. When we arrived they said they didn't have a room for us, I booked 3 weeks prior. I was told they had no rooms at all. After going to 4 other hotels we went back to tell them they were going to have to help us find us. Then they all of a sudden had a room with 1 king and a pullout at this point it was 10:30pm so we took it and they said they would get another room cleaned for us to have in a little bit at 1am I had to go back down to the desk and ask if we would ever get this room finally after 10 more minutes they gave me another room, then had to wake my daughter up I the middle of the night and move 2 floors up so she didn't have to sleep in a chair. Neither room was very clean, the TV didn't work in one and the shower didn't drain in the other. All pretty disappointing
So, had to get a rm for the night checked in very late in the evening but was charged full price if the rm only to check out in a few hours to go to wrk. Not happy about that as it should be prorated but that's hotels for you. The bed was lumpy n hard but other than that rm was clean n neat n quiet.Rooms: 5/5
Hotel seemed nice at first glance. Would have loved to have stayed there. I booked and was confirmed for a one night stay only to arrive at 8pm and be turned away due to over-booking. I was told that they tried to reach out via email and phone, but I had no emails or voicmail at all. I then had to spend 2 hours trying to find another hotel but they were all booked. Not sure where the communication went wrong, but it was a major inconvenience.
