House of Blues Boston

Love this venue more than any other that I've been too. Drinks are above average price but anyone should expect that when going to a concert so you shouldn't be surprised. They use the space they have very well, have multiple bars and a balcony for people who like to watch but have a bit more of their own personal space. Staff is always helpful and friendly and the bouncers always do a fantastic job if anyone acts up. Definitely recommend this venue when trying to see a show you like.

Brought my 12 year old and two of her friends here for a concert. I was pleasantly surprised by this venue. They had ample security with metal detectors going in. Well placed emergency exits on both sides of the stage, so I felt that in an emergency, every one would get out. There was plenty of standing room for the people who wanted to be up close and plenty of room for others who appreciate a little distance. The sound quality was amazing. You could hear it clearly, feel the bass, but not feel like your ears were going to start bleeding at any moment.

In the 20+ times I've been here, I've always had a great night. They book amazing artists, serve strong drinks, and run a pretty tight operation. Security doesn't harass people who are just having a good time, but once I saw a fight break out and they were on top of it almost instantly. Another time I left my ticket at home, and with just an ID and signature, I got a new one, and security let me cut the line to get back to where I was. Nothing but good memories of this place! Although they could allow empty camelbacks & water bottles inside...

Do not, under any circumstances, buy tickets for the mezzanine. If for some reason you do not take this advise, make sure you get there EARLY, as you will otherwise be standing 3-deep behind the railing, and you won't be able to see anything except a tiny screen showing the concert. You would literally be better off listening to the band's albums at home and staring at a picture of them instead. Consider yourself warned! That being said, this is a great venue. It's pretty small and they have some awesome shows here. The energy is always good and the audio mixers do a great job. Staff is friendly as well.

It's a great venue at usually a good price. If you can afford it, check out the Foundation Room - it's a private room on the second floor for dining and drinks; it's very elegant with Turkish decor. The service is usually great at the bars. There's a smoking area, easy to get up close to the stage too. Security is way too uptight. Hence the 4 stars.
