Midway Café

Have been to Midway before. Crappy experience. Waiter was not good,was more a construction worker type thrown in the mix. Oh well dealt with it. Went back again recently for another try and hear trivia Morgan White (radio personality)sat at bar Deedee (bartender)was great and we got a real Manhattan for a decent price...whew! Finally. Shared plates and had a better experience. It's very much a neighborhood place with a cozy tight knit atmosphere. Thanks

Nestled in the heart of Jamaican Plain, MA, Midway Cafe is a great retreat on Thursday nights for "Queeraoke," an institution in the Boston queer community. Although it's a revolving door of new faces each week, it's easy to feel like you've found a familiar group. Part of this is likely related to the friendly bartenders and the staff that, despite it getting pretty rowdy, always manages to bid you a jovial farewell when you leave for the evening. It's a fun place to go with friends. I maybe wouldn't bring a date to Queeroke, though, unless you're planning to go somewhere quieter before (or after).

I have been looking for a place to hear good music. My friends gig was cancelled due to the weather, so I came across this place. The music was SO damn loud, it blew my eardrum out and they also give you ear plugs to put in your ears. And that didn't even help. I've never experienced anything like that before! So needless to say, I didn't stay there very long at all. I'm not sure if it's always like that, the place is small. But, I've been to small places, w Very loud music, but never that loud! Ha

Great place. Has local and touring band almost nightly. Also afternoon shows.
