This place smelled so awful and the girl didn't seem to have a problem returning the dog I found to the owner if he claimed him even though the poor dog was showing his hip bones and ribs.

We looked at several shelters to find our new dog, and Amherst is one of the absolute best! I called first and asked about a specific dog. Peggy was so helpful! When I came to meet the dog, the staff was fantastic, answered all of my questions, and was very attentive. There was a bit of a time crunch on the adoption, so Peggy called our landlord right away-- before I was even out of the parking lot-- to make sure our application would be processed in time. We picked up our puppy today after she was spayed by the local vet. We could not be more thrilled with the newest member of our family, and it is all thanks to the wonderful staff here!
