Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center

Very nice facility. It was nice of the folks associated to give the late Steve Phillips, the man who coordinated the build of this facility, recognition during their recent memorial day weekend event. Mr Phillips and his team did a fantastic job putting it all together. Go check it out!

This facility is REALLY clean and well-maintained. The staff is very friendly and is happy to help anyone who has questions or is interested in an animal. As far as shelters go, this is one of the nicest I've ever been to.

The worst experience at a shelter I have ever had. When my dog and I visited to find a new family member we did not have a pleasant time. The woman at the front desk seemed annoyed by us and was not friendly. We were told that my dog had to stay out in the car on a hot day while I looked at the available dogs. When I mentioned that I was not comfortable leaving my dog in the car especially with the weather, I was shrugged off and ignored. Luckily, a friend that volunteers at the shelter offered to hang out with my dog inside their lobby. I can understand properly introducing the dogs but I do not understand why my dog can not wait in a waiting room or area as like every other shelter we have been to. The dogs and kennels are well kept and clean however many dogs had absolutely no info to share which was frustrating. When I finally felt a connection with a couple of the adoptable dogs I let the woman at the front know. She very rudely and abruptly said "NO" with a big smile. I was taken aback as I would never ever expect that attitude from someone who is supposedly working to save animal lives. After taking a second to recompose, I asked her why and she said because the dog was not good with other dogs. I know many dogs are not good with dogs however it was clearly shown in several places around the shelter that this dog was indeed good with other dogs. I felt as if the woman simply did not care for me or my dog and could care less if we rescued a dog from the shelter. For once in my life I found myself wanting to leave an animal shelter as quickly as possible. The kicker to this review, my friend who volunteers asked the other day about the dog we wanted to meet, she was told the dog is great with other dogs. When my friend explained my experience and how the dog could have had a home by now (she has been in the shelter for at least 3 months now) the woman simply said "they can come on in and meet her" without any apology or explaination. My friend then explained that I live over 3 hours away and the woman just shrugged. It was the same exact woman at the front desk. Unbelievable.

Amazing new renovations compared to the older building. Glad to see progress and when my group went to volunteer, a dog was adopted as we were leaving! Great place for a date or just to relieve stress before finals. The animals are always happy to be walked/played with.
