Irish Democrat

Nothing extravagant, just good food. Everything is well executed and there's is a great atmosphere. Definitely recommend if you need a work lunch place or just a nice sports bar to meet up at. Multiple good vegetarian options too! Make sure to try the wontons!

This place can get pretty busy, going on off times is highly suggested. The food is a bit greasy if you're sensitive to that sort of thing. The flavor is good, we had appetizers before our meal. It was more than enough to let me take half my meal home in a to go box. The place is divided up a bit, it helps to keep the noise down a bit so you can hear conversations. Parking is in the back, and you go in the back door, which is a little weird but they're used to it. Ordering to go food is fine too. Service is friendly but a bit slow.

Irish democrat is a staple of cedar rapids. They have always had great wait staff and delicious food. Get the I.D. special or bacon cheeseburger and obviously you can't go to Irish democrat without cheese wontons. It can get busy during peak hours but it's worth the wait. Pleasant bar or good place for a loud dinner with friends and family.
