Johnny's Donuts

This is the single most unique donut buying experience I've ever had. My husband, friend, and I were in town for Planet Comicon, and Hubster and I actively seek out donut places when we're out of town. I found this one from online reviews and wanted to try it. First, you should know it's not a gentrified, sparkly area of town. Second, you should know to bring cash. Third, you should know it'll feel like a bank transaction. I'm assuming it was Johnny himself who helped us. He's a wonderful elderly man who probably has endless stories, and I just wanted to sit and have coffee with the dude. But he's not a stupid man, and he knows what his area of town is like, so he's behind glass. You slide your money in to the small slot, and he sends your coffee and donuts out through a big, metal, sliding drawer. The place is small, it is unusual, but oh my god, is it good. These are classic, real, perfected donuts. Places like this are starting to disappear in favor of donuts that are overly complicated and far too sugary. Johnny's is the real deal, if I can borrow a cliche.

As a kid use to go clean up the parking lot for the day old donuts. And still going. Italian steak is my favorite... Third time editing best Italian steaks in Kansas City

I love Johnny's, the only reason I give 4 stars is because they put cold salad in the box with hot foods and by the time you get to eat, your salad is wilted. Really good food!!

Damn good plain glazed donuts. What more do you need? My office loved them.

Fresh, cooked in front of you in hurry ,go somewhere else. But good, flavorful and hot neighborhood fast food restaurant.get it and go no seating.
