Katzinger's Little Deli

Service was super friendly & welcoming!! When we visited North Market, I purchased a Rueben here. It was everything I love in a Rueben. Authentic & completely yummy!!! Really great experience.

Lunch for 2 was $22! I had a tuna salad sandwich. My husband had a Ruben. No sides. Just an average sandwich. Terrible value. Top it off, we had our parking tickets validated, but still $2 each to get out of the North Market parking lot. I wouldn't meet for lunch here again. From the looks of it, no one else in town is coming here either.

We were eating at the North Market on a busy Saturday afternoon and my Dad decided to grab a hot dog. Twenty minutes later, he shows up in the upper level dining area sans hot dog. Said he paid up front for the order, saw them put it on the grill, then forget about it, and him, while they prepped other orders and cleaned the place up. So eventually he gave up. Going to Katzingers for a hot dog is overkill, granted but I would expect better of the place considering the reputation of its German Village location.

Food is fine, but lacks the authenticity I was looking for. At least the service was fast and friendly. The classic Reuben was $11.95 and came with a pickle. I upgraded to get a knish for $2 extra, and a can of root beer. The root beer was lukewarm and the pickle was OK but not great. The Reuben was barely mediocre, with half as much corned beef as you'd expect from other delis, and I was shocked it was served still cool in the center. Not a great sandwich. The knish was actually very tasty, with just a hint of spice and a lovely gooey center. So, nothing was horrible, but nothing was amazing either. Prices were a bit high but probably appropriate for the North Market location.
