By far, best grocery store on the UES. Staff very helpful, great sales, best prices in Yorkville. If they don't have or run out of something, will order for you. Fab customer service. Would like to see more organic fruits, veggies with better price, know would be a big hit. Otherwise, wide selections, vegan too. New express aisle gets you in & out quickly. Nothing but good to say, glad they are in my neighborhood. Just don't shop on super bowl Sunday, busiest day of the year!

They have good specials but not always. But when they do they are pretty good. Just the prices over all are kind of high. Well I dont want to climb a mountain to buy something so I go else where when I cant find something in key food.

Prices have gone up in the past 3-6 months. Standard basic grocery stores with mediocre produce. Used to be a good go to option but prices recently went up nearly across the board.

Overall you will shop here out of necessity rather than desire until Trader Joe’s come to the UES or another affordable option. I’m shocked to see google giving it such a high rating (3.9 as of today), but that’s why I don’t trust google reviews when making a buying decision.
Oftentimes the staff will blatantly ignore you, or just treat you poorly. It’s as if you’re interrupting their lives by shopping at their job. Rather than speak to a customer, they’ll yell over you to other cashiers. If you ask a stocker for help they pretend to not understand or tell you that they don’t know, rather than actually help.
More often than not I’ve purchased meat here for it to be bad within a day or two. Produce will rarely last 2-3 days. If something is mispriced they will either argue about it or take forever to confirm (take photos of signage).
In all honesty I will do my grocery shopping downtown or across the park more often than not to avoid this spot. 2/5 only because it serves a purpose and occasionally you can stock up on canned items for cheap.

It's worth the half-mile walk to Key Food for their high quality, fair prices and friendly service. I used to shop exclusively at Fairway, but their quality declined at the same time their prices shot through the roof. It used to be a 20-minute wait at Fairway's deli dept., and now I pay less than half for the same products, and at most there's one person ahead of me. The only downside is that the produce dept. is very small, but between them and the street vendor, I find everything I need at half the price that Fairway charges.
